36 weeks | 1cm | 50% effaced

So I had my weekly BPP scan and OB appt today.  The BPP scan revealed that the baby has gained 13 oz in ONE week and that freaked me out! Last week she was 5lb 12oz, now at 6lb 9oz and I have 3 week until induction. 

Then the doctor did a cervical check (and strep B culture), all while having BH contractions (what a joy that was) and he said I was 1cm 50%.  He checked me 2 weeks ago because my BH's have been so strong and he said the cervix was closed.

When pregnant with my son, I was 1cm for 5 weeks and was still induced but I was effaced at all.  With my daughter I had no cervical changes up until my induction at 39 weeks. 

Just wondering if anyone else has had this?  Wondering if the effacement means labor is soon (oh how I hope!!)?

That's exciting! But, like your experience, no real indication of a timeframe from what I understand.

Over the three weeks before I had DD I had prodromal labor (early labor that starts and stops) and I progressed to 2 cm, 80% effaced, and -1 station yet still had a week or two before I really went into labor. Such a mind game!

FX that LO stays in there as long as needed and you're not tortured too much more.

I read something like '10 signs of labor'.  I have several of the symptoms of early labor which are common stages/signs that labor is upon you as your body prepares (ie. loosens joints, contractions, etc) but doesn't mean its immanent.  So that made me feel a little more at ease.  

Contractions have been going, pretty much non-stop, all day.  Now that I'm home, I'm relaxing and they becoming less frequent.  I think maybe I had worked myself up and was stressing about it!

It IS such a mind game, from the +hpt and all the way to the end!!

Some people are 3 cm's for weeks before they deliver.  There is really no way to tell when you will go.  Some people get checked in the morning only to find they are not dilated and barely effaced at all and that night they are in labor. 

DOn't worry about that ultrasound weight gain.  Ultrasounds are so often totally off on weight.  My last one I was told was barley over 5 lbs a couple days before I had her...she was 10lbs 8 ou.  I see all the time women who got induced because their ultrasound showed a large baby...and they have a 6 lber.

Hi Mom--

I never measured past 36 weeks (not sure how I was huge!)  with my first and my doctor kept preparing me for a small 5lb baby.  DS was born at 8 lbs 5 oz! The estimates are just that and can be waayyy off.
