Hi ladies! I've been active on the TTCAS board for a few months now and lurk here a lot lately so I thought I should intro myself and ask for your expert advice.

Here's our history...I have a blocked tube and fibroids. I had to have a bunch of big ones removed back in 2010 but today I had Sono  with RE which revealed that one is encroaching on my uterine wall.

DH has ZERO sperm. 3 years ago he had some because we had DD in 2012. Anyway, 2 SAs showed there are now 0, BUT we do have 12 vials of frozen sperm from 1996 before he was treated for testicular cancer.

WWYD: RE told me today after sono that it's up to us to decide if we want to A) Remove fibroids before trying IVF or IUI cycles or B) Try a few cycles to see if IVF or IUI would work leaving fibroids alone for now.

I am not sure what to do. We will being paying OOP for all IUI and IVF treatments but our insurance will cover surgery to remove fibroids. So if you were me, what would you do?? Thank you for reading and any advice, thoughts or comments. :)

    Welcome. I don't have much experience with fibroids, but if it were me I would get the fibroids removed before moving to fertility treatments. Keep us posted!!!!

    IUI #1 5mg Femara + trigger = BFN

    IVF #1, Stimmed for 12 days, ER 8/22/14, 9 retrieved, 7M, 7F!!  Freeze all due to fluid in uterus.
    FET end of October 2014 cancelled due to fluid in uterus due to possible c-scar defect
    Surgery scheduled 12/12/14 to fix possible isthmocele
    3/26/15 transferred one 8 cell grade 4 embryo and one 6 cell grade 3 embryo = slow rising betas for 2+ weeks = ectopic MTX shot 4/29/15
    Repeat c-scar surgery June 2015
    2nd and last IVF cycle August 2015, stimmed for 12 days, 2 egg retrieved, both mature and both fertilized.  Transferred both 8-cell embryos on Day 3, beta 9/5/15 = BFFN
    MOVING TO ADOPTION!

    Welcome :)

    My DH has azoospermia so we can only do IVF with a sperm aspiration procedure never IUI.

    If I were you, I would get the firbroids removed, since if you cycle IVF or IUI and it does not work you might always wonder if that is cause, and since both as so $$$ especially IVF I would want to go in without any possible impediments.

    Welcome! I agree with the others. I'd want to remove all known possible issues before paying OOP or using up any of the frozen sperm.

    Two DDs 10/08 and 08/10, no primary IF
    TTC #3 since 10/2011 - dx unexplained/weak ovulation
     3 BFN clomid + TI cycles, 5 BFN clomid/gonal f IUIs, 1 mmc IUI
    2/19/2014 IVF #1 Unexpected low E2 (oversuppressed) -> increased to max doses = 3 or 4 follicles, converting to IUI
    BFFP Saw 1 beautiful heartbeat at 6w6d, follow up u/s at 9w showed mmc. Eff this.
    NTNP 5/2014-9/2014, OPKs and TI 10/2014 - 1/2015. 
    RPL testing all normal, AFC, AMH, and FSH all normal. 
    IVF 1.2 1/22/2014 natural cycle start, AFC 28, 300 gonal f/150menopur. 
    ER 2/3/15 14R 8M 3F w/ICSI Day 5 transfer on 2/8/15 of one "Grade A+" blast and have TWO frosties!

    Thank you ladies! I agree and I really think the best thing for us is to just remove them.

    On that note, does anyone know if there's a certain amount of time I will have to wait once I have them removed before I could cycle IVF?? I know my RE will tell me but our follow up appointment isn't until Feb 3rd! Which feels like an eternity from now! LOL.

    I don't know how long the recovery is but I think another TTCASer just had fibroids removed (I think LauraO11) so she might know. I agree with the other ladies, I would have them removed now before sinking time and money into IVF. Hope time flies before your RE appt!

    absolutely remove them before paying $0.01 of your hard-earned money on IVF or IUI. they can interfere with pg, why even chance that?

    Welcome!  I don't have any personal experience but I agree with everyone else.  If you don't remove them and your cycles fail you will be kicking yourself for not doing it.

    I agree with the others, I'd have them removed before moving forward with the OOP treatments

     Stopped preventing when DS was 6 months old (4/13), really started TTC 10/13
    Started clomid July 2014, 3 failed rounds of clomid w OB (low pro on CD 21) sent to RE

    HSG and blood work all good
    round 1: clomid and trigger shot~BFN
    round 2: clomid, trigger and IUI~BFN
    round 3: clomid, trigger and IUI +4 booster HCG~NOPE

    On a break!!! Til April/May 

    round 4:clomid, trigger (missed IUI window) NO fricking way BFP

    Welcome. I would agree with everyone else and get the fibroids removed first. I have seen several pregnant women at work whose fibroids grow during pregnancy and become very uncomfortable.

    Thank you so much for your advice ladies! I have my pre op appointment on Feb 18th and they said they could do it Robotically which also means laparoscopic so WOO-HOO for that! I also have a follow up with RE on the 12th to decide if IUI or IVF is our best option once the fibroids are removed.

    I post this to the pro boards thinking everyone was going over there (I honestly have no clue what happened or why everyone was angry or why people stayed or whatever. I just want to be wherever I can get some support and give some support) so if this is the right place for me or the wrong place just let me know! I've been out of touch for the past 2 weeks because my FIL unexpectedly passed away so we've been dealing with that instead of IF stuff.

    Sorry for your loss. In glad you are moving forward with removing the fibroids. I don't think any of us moved over to proboards.
