Today is my final genetic counseling appointment to go over the diagnostic chromosome analysis done at Caroline's birth. This means going back to the MFM office where I was first told that my baby had a 5-10% chance of surviving to her first birthday.
This is going to be an emotional appointment. Please keep me in your thoughts today!
Being back at the MFM office was hard and emotional, but we survived. The genetic counselor and her student were nice, used Caroline's name, and took the time to look through my book of pictures taken over her life. Many tears were shed, but I enjoyed sharing Caroline with more people. Good news is that our recurrence risk is 1 percent!
So glad they showed love and respect for Caroline and the great impact she had while she was here. And glad to hear reoccurrence risk is so low, that's great news!
Glad things went well for you today and you have such a low reoccurrence risk!! I'm sure them using sweet Caroline's name was music to your ears as all of our babies names are when someone remembers that they were a person like anyone else.
That is such great news - low reoccurance rates! I know that was one of our concerns with Trenton's diagnosis as we had always planned to have more than one child (I was an only child).
