Nurseries and Baby Gear

New to board- stroller question..

Good Afternoon all. Anyone have the Graco Ready 2 Grow stroller?  Just wondering what experiences have been. We have a 6 yr old and a 2 yr old. My DD will be 2 1/2 when the baby is here and I still think we'll need a stroller/sit/stand option for her in certain situations.  I'm thinking this stroller because I like all the seating options and it seems to be a good stroller. I've never actually seen it in person though.   Thoughts? easy to use? pain in the rear?

I wanted something that would allow my DD a place to sit stroller style if she was pooped and would fall asleep.  But I liked the sit/stand option too because sometimes she doesn't necessarily want to be contained to the stroller but she doesn't necessarily want to walk either.  I also wanted something that a carseat would fit into as well.

Re: New to board- stroller question..

  • My friend had one and hated it because it's HUGE when folded. It pushes well enough on paved surfaces, but it's not good on gravel/grass/trails.

Where do you plan on using your stroller?

  • It's huge and not easy to steer.  What is your budget?

I have it and so far I love it! It is large, but not any larger than some of those high end super expensive strollers. My 3yo is very tall and there is no way she would comfortably sit in a City Select which seems to be a popular choice. Oh. I should say that i wanted an in-line, not a side by side. And I wanted something to use in our neighborhood, longer walks, for travel and shopping with both kids, not for jogging or offroading. Another thing I love about my Ready2grow is that it has tons of riding options. Right now the baby is in the infant seat (no special adapter needed! You put the car seat right in the sling!) and DD1 rides in the front and can see everything and hop out when she wants to walk. Later on I imagine the baby might ride in the back in the higher seat while K is still upfront. And then when K is more mature and responsible she can ride in the back on the bench or glider board, while the baby rides in the front.
  • Thanks!

We lived on a paved road so walks would be all paved. Mostly I'm using a stroller for the zoo or walks in our neighborhood or shopping.. things like that.

I do have an SUV so I have room to put it in the back. I'm not a jogger so I won't be running with it. I wish I was but I'm not. :)

Budget.. I don't know.. we can afford a pricey stroller if we had to but I'd rather not. We pretty much got rid of all of our baby stuff because we thought we were done but here we are. So I don't want to spend a ton of money on brand new stuff when I just got rid of a bunch of brand new stuff. lol  That's part of why the ready 2 grow appealed to me because it's inline which is what I wanted and it's much cheaper than some of the other brands. I love the city select but it's also $600-ish.

  • The good thing about buying a more pricey stroller is the re-sale value.  You will be able to sell it for more than 1/2 the cost, while the Graco you may get $40 at best.

I suggest you go to BuyBuyBaby and test out all the doubles and see what you like.

Thanks ladies! I'll have to see if we have a buy buy baby around here. I'm not sure we do.  But we do have a big kid store near us that I know has a ton of strollers.  All the Graco strollers I've seen on craigslist.. ebay.. the FB for sale sites.. (the ready2grow one)  are selling for $100-$150 actually. I wish I could find one for $40. lol  I found a set on craigslist that was hardly used and came with a carseat/base but the woman found out she was also pregnant and had to keep it.

I actually love the city select but not sure I can convince hubby to spend the cash.  Mostly because this is our third and I've already gone through 2 other strollers at home.  But they are all single strollers and one of them is a travel system and the carseat will be expired by the time our little boy is here.

  • I was just looking through Baby Bar.gains last night. They like the Baby Jogger City Mini Double best where budget isn't a concern. Also Britax B-Agile and Chicco Ecco Twin for side-by-sides.
    Baby girl Lila born 2013.
    Baby boy Henry born 2015.
Expecting our capstone baby (boy) early March 2018.
  • DD is 3 and 95th Percentile for height, and she fits in the city select with extra room. The canopy can be adjusted to two different heights. I tested it before I just got it because I was concerned about that.
I just got our City Select used in AMAZING condition with the extra seat for $250. Seriously a couple scuffs but nothing noticeable unless you are really looking. DH wasn't on board with $600 for a stroller so I was excited to find it.  I like that it can be folded down pretty small for how big it is, especially if you take the seats off and stack them on top for in a car. I have a huge SUV so its not an issue for me personally but it is nice for the event we want to put other stuff back there it doesn't take up huge space.
I don't have any experience with the Graco though, so I can't compare.
All my friends that have City Selects love them. Not a single complaint except to standing fold.

  • That's an awesome deal!! I'm still looking around. If I could find a deal like that on a city select, DH would be fine. But I know he will throw a fit if I spend $600 on a stroller. So far the only used one I've found was for $500 and it's an hour away from me. Comes with the seat adapter but not the seat.

I kinda like the inline ones as opposed to the side by sides but I'm open.
