Well since DS started preschool the kids have both been sick a ton!!! Since September I have spent over $200 just in copays ($10 per kids per visit). They have had viral things, colds, and LO has been battling non stop ear infections and fluid! We are going yet again today for an ear check. If the fluid hasn't drained it has been three months of constant fluid. We are getting close to tubes I think!
C only got sick once before going to DC, and I still think he was just teething. Since starting DC in Nov, he's been since about every other week. But knock on wood he hasn't been sick these past two weeks, even with teeth coming in. So I hope he's good for a while!
I feel like DS3 is sick constantly, but he's been in Mother's Day Out, and now he's in FT day care. My older kids were sick all the time as young babies/toddlers, but now they never get sick!
@djtippietoes - LO will either get all the sicknesses when starting daycare or kindergarten. It's just how the immune system reacts to its first encounter with all the germs.
He's had two viral sicknesses, hand foot and mouth and some kind of virus that had a rash (the pediatrician just called it a "viral rash") - both of which he caught from his sister - and one ear infection. Plus a few minor colds. Luckily being sick doesn't seem to bother him too much, or mess with his sleep much. I guess maybe open heart surgery at 5 months old made the other stuff seem trivial
DD and DS started at the same in home daycare at the same age, but DS has definitely been more sick. One of my theories is that it's because he's mobile in the winter. DD was 3 months-7 months during her first winter in daycare, so she wasn't crawling all over the place and putting everything in her mouth like DS does. Plus I think baby #2 gets sick a lot more because they're exposed to everything the older kid gets.
BFP #1 9/2010 (lost our baby at 21 weeks)
BFP #2 8/2011 (ectopic pregnancy)
BFP #3 10/2011 (chemical pregnancy)
BFP #4 12/2011 (Abigail born 8/15/12)
BFP #5 5/2013 (Griffin born 1/23/14 with heart defects, now repaired!)
We live a sheltered life, no daycare. I think she's only been sick three times but the worst was when she was only a few days old. She caught a horrible bug from DS. I was so so scared.
E was sick first time in july with an ear infection. He didn't get sick again until December which resulted in 2 dr appts 10 days apart. Again with a double ear infection.
Both times on the heels of my sister visiting and bringing my nieces.
We rarely go out and no day care. I worry that come preschool he's going to have a hell of a time.
Lo alternates between and mild cold and a stomach bug. I thought we had made it through the most recent stomach bug, but then, BAM, puke everywhere after a bottle today. @-)
Nothing terrible I guess but both kids have been sick on and off since October. Add Dh and I in and we've had about two weeks without someone on an antibiotic, dd2 finished the last set the week after Christmas. I'm taking her in for what appears to be strep butt again tomorrow if I can get an appointment. We've had that once before, 4 ear infections, pneumonia and various colds just for her.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
Re: How often does your LO get sick?
+1
Mom to Lily and Colin!
