I didn't shovel our walk or driveway this morning. I planned to come home and do it but I am exhausted and our civic made it out. I am pro-pedestrian and so I feel bad, but I need a rest and errands before daycare pickup.

I was in Tae Kwon Do! After the first few times I got my ass kicked my mom put me in it! I was just too big of a friggin sissy to use it. I didn't want to hurt anyone. @-)

I remember many a times my mother advocating for me at the school. I remember lots of tears as well. I feel just as bad for my mom as I do for myself.

My Mom tried to help, but it involved calling the school. It's one thing to be bullied, but things get worse when they find out you tattle.
Most of my bullying started shortly after my Dad died, unfortunately. My relationship with my Mom was strained after that (long story there) so I stopped talking to her about it.
@sparkymcgeee and @ChrissieMeas more huge hugs. >:D< I think about that part, moms trying help and things getting worse. Here's hoping for a kinder future and that our LO's never have to know what bullying is.
There's going to be a zero tolerance meanness policy in this house.. I am busting my everloving ass to create a gentle parenting environment especially because I was not raised in that environment at all. If he comes out of this gentle stuff putting trombone slide oil in the hood of a girl's jacket then pulling her hair till she yanks it up and gets FRIGGIN INDELLIBLE OIL in her already greasy mousy hair I will probably lose my shit.

They paid for the Tae Kwon Do tho, so I guess they thought I would take care of myself.
One specific incident I will never forget involved boys that brought handcuffs to school wanting to "try them" on me. When I obliged because they were older and popular and I thought they were paying attention to me, one picked me up and held me over his shoulder while the others lifted my shirt and felt my boobs. The vice principal was standing in the hall and saw it all, and after they put me back down he stormed over and admonished me sternly for letting someone pick me up. Someone of my size could have hurt that boy's back!!
I just remember my mom, when asking her when she was going to help me, saying she couldn't get a call back from the principal, but she was working on it.
Nothing ever happened.
We moved at the end of that year to a new town, where the shit kept up with a different boy.

@KittenD that's beyond bullying. That is sexual assault. That the VP should be responsible for. Watching and not stopping the assault of a minor should mean jail time. That is just horrible.
Lately I've been worrying about Eliza. She is such a social kid. Wants to be everyone's friend but she's a bit socially awkward. She doesn't understand that we don't touch people. She has friends at church and stuff and I'm really glad but I see her pushing boundaries and I don't want her to be the annoying friend that touches people too much. Personal space and all that. I've been trying to teach her now that I'm noticing it (I recently became her teacher for Sunday School).
I dream of finding my sixth grade teacher and putting her in her place. Like I've thought of everything I would say and replayed it a hundred times in my mind.
She was kind of old then though so she's probably dead.
I kind of want to google the school and find out if he's still there, the VP. Because I am *a little* stronger than I was then and I want to tell him what that did to me... But I'm terrified of confrontation so I won't. But thanks for the hugs, all. Sorry to monopolize.

As for Eliza, I just say stuff to her like, "that's so great that you want to play with everyone. Just please be careful about touching other people. We don't want to hurt anyone. Go ask her if she wants to play with you! That would be so much fun!" It's always upbeat and I encourage being friendly. I just don't want her to grab or push. Which she's done a few times.
Seriously that's just victim shaming and it's not okay. I think if it had been a woman principal it wouldn't have gone down that way. How is it a girls fault that she was picked up by force (cause you floated in the air??) and was held against her will to be felt up? The more I think about this the angrier I get. When I obliged because they were older and popular and I thought they were paying attention to me, one picked me up and held me over his shoulder while the others lifted my shirt and felt my boobs. The vice principal was standing in the hall and saw it all, and after they put me back down he stormed over and admonished me sternly for letting someone pick me up. Someone of my size could have hurt that boy's back!!
