SS: "Do They Know It's Christmas (Feed the World)" makes me see red.
That's a weird one, isn't it? Very patronizing and ethnocentric.
Not only that but referring to people in Africa as "the others" and saying how there will be no snow in Africa at Christmas (or whatever the lyric is). Well duh there's no snow. Isn't it summer over there at Christmas??
The song was written for the famine in Ethiopia, which is north of the equator, so it would still be winter there a but it sure sounds dumb to point out there won't be any snow there like that is a)remarkable and b) tragic. It's really the famine that's the issue, not that they aren't enjoying a stereotypical white Christmas. And the line "Tonight, thank God it's them instead of you" always sounded really wrong to me.
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is a song about a bunch of elitist reindeer dicks who exclude Rudolph because he's different and then turn around and kiss his ass because Santa chooses him to guide his sleigh.

But I also watched every episode of Jersey Shore so consider the source. Maybe I'm broken.
