Cloth Diapering

Leaking Diapers!

DS woke up with diarrhea.  A couple of his diapers have leaked out the legs.  We never have leaks or blowouts. I think it's just too much too quickly to absorb, somewhat also the fit of the diapers.  I don't believe it's the wash routine, I just need recommendations for types of diapers to wear on him today to avoid gross leaks!

We have a little bit of everything.  Would natural absorb more quickly than synthetic?  Do I need to double up? Use a flat? I never get those on tight around the legs it seems.  I'm not opposed to sposies either, but I don't have any on hand and wasn't sure those would work any better anyway.  Anyone else have experience with this?  TIA!

P.S.  What can I do for him besides watching his diet?

Re: Leaking Diapers!

  • I'm thinking he's sick.  It's gone around through our family and the other boy I watch.  His appetite seems to be fine now, and he hasn't eaten anything unusual.  But he's still pooping quite a bit every half hour or so.
  • You could also try doubling up your covers, or put a cover over your AIO or pocket.

  • Just turned a year old.
  • Ok thank you.  Am I right in thinking natural fibers absorb more quickly?  Maybe I'll try rolling the flat at the legs before I use the cover.  Usually I just pad fold or use a pocket.
  • I don't know if the fiber matters if you are trying to contain diarrhea. The way the diaper fits or is folded will probably be more important. JMO.
  • Do you spray diarrhea diapers?  I have been because, you know, it's poop.  But there's also nothing solid to it.
  • Is there anything to spray? When P gets diarrhea it's like completely water and all gets soaked into the diaper. E's diarrhea is gross so I spray it.

    Oops duplicate post
  • I don't trust disposables with poop, especially runny poop. If you go that route, put a cover over it.
