I am in excruciating back pain. I am having neck and upper and mid back spasms, tail bone pain, sciatic pain...I am going on 3 days. I know it is due to sleeping wrong one night. I have to move slowly to even get off my chair. Any fast or sudden movements make me scream in pain. I can't straighten out my back or even lay comfortably. I went to the chiropractor yesterday. He aligned my neck and upper back, but he said lower back and hips were too tight and inflamed to get a good adjustment. But my entire back is twisted again from walking like Quasimodo- Hunchback of Notre Dame. (I have an OB appt tomorrow). Should I...

Suck it up, you're 7 month pregnant, what did you expect...pregnancy isn't supposed to tickle.
I chose the suck it up until your OB appointment tomorrow, but definitely don't mean that you should suck it up. I'm sure it feels like crap and I hope that your OB may have some advice!

This is tough. I'm almost afraid for you to go to your prenatal massage, as I don't want them to fuck you up further. I know people rave about them, but I got one my last pregnancy and I was in pain for almost 2 weeks because she did something to tweak my back.
Maybe chiro again?? I'm sorry you're in such pain.
Thank you, I was thinking to keep icing my back to decrease the inflammation, tylenol, massage to loosen things up AND then get aligned. I don't know. I just don't want to be in pain this weekend and over my Christmas break.

Thanks!! So I called my Chiropractor. I have the prenatal massage from 3:30- 4:20 and an adjustment at 5. I'm going to keep icing it throughout the day. He wanted me to go back for an adjustment next week, but they said it was ok to come today. I'm hoping this helps.

Good luck with this! I know how bad back injuries can be. I always try heat therapy and Flexeril (a category B muscle relaxer),but that was before pregnancy. I have never been to the chiro but think it's probably nice to be adjusted properly. Same deal with the massage. I wish someone would get me one for Christmas.
Hopefully your OB will have some insight on how to help!
Also, I don't know how much you've gone to a chiro in the past but sometimes it gets worse before it gets better. Those muscles can be so tight that when you get adjusted the muscles get inflamed. I'd ask the chiro how many times they think you'll need to come. In the past, I've had to go anywhere from about 3-10x and usually spaced out every 2-3 days.
I love going and have gone several times. I know what you mean, sometimes it take a few adjustments before it feels better. I will ask him today. Thank you!

I'm so sorry you're in that much debilitating pain. Pain sucks and the kind you're describing isn't "normal pregnancy pain" to ignore by the sounds of it.
I'm not a medical doctor, and I know for some people taking meds while pregnant is controversial, but consider discussing stronger prescription pain meds than over the counter Tylenol with your OB tomorrow. If Physio, chiro, massage, etc aren't enough then pain meds are an option worth discussing.
I have severe muscle spasms and chronic pain due to a scary high speed bicycle accident a few years ago that required a few surgeries and a long recovery time and I know the benefits (and risks) of many pain meds for me. I personally wouldn't take Percocet or dilauded or Vicodin or anything that strong while pregnant. However, I have taken Tylenol 3 (codine and Tylenol) a few times during this pregnancy when the muscles and pain were intolerable and neither me nor my health care providers are concerned about me taking it. Yes, a baby can become addicted to codine, but that would require repeated use. Using it to deal with a sudden flare up of muscle spasms, short term, and unrepeated might be more beneficial than the risks.
I'm just telling you all of this because if you do need the relief, then you might have to deal with ignorance from family, friends, and sadly even within the medical field. There's a lot of non empirical fearmongering around pain meds and pain management and you have to be your own advocate.
SS: as long as the massage therapist is well trained in prenatal massage, I would go ahead with that. Mainly with the hope that they will help loosen up your lower back and hips - THEN go back to the chiro tomorrow if possible.
My OB pretty much said the only solution is to have a baby. In the mean time, he just suggested ice and tylenol. I use the ice gel, which seems to help some. Between those, the massage, and chiro, that's pretty much all that can be done. When I get pain that bad, it usually only lasts for a few days...kind of comes in spurts then dissapates. Hoping you get some relief soon!!
I'm so sorry you're dealing with this! Did the massage and chiro help any? I have been dealing with insane hip pain. My pelvis is separating slightly too much, is how my OB explained it to me. I know what you're going through. I haven't found anything to help. I'm scared of the chiro but I think I'll try a prenatal massage!
I've been laying in bed since 830 with ice packs. The massage and alignment helped, but didn't last long. I'm grouchy, tired, in pain and in tears. The massage was wonderful though. I plan on going again.

When laying in bed can you try to slowly adjust and stretch the muscles. Don't push it but slow constant stretching can really help loosen a tweaked muscle.
I hope you get some relief soon
Love is like infinity: You can't have more or less infinity, and you can't compare two things to see if they're "equally infinite." Infinity just is, and that's the way I think love is, too.

Ugh. I've been having the same problem for weeks now. My OB in Germany refuses to do anything for me and chalks it up to "normal" pregnancy pains. She basically told me to suck it up. Makes me really miss doctors in the states! Please let me know if you found any type of relief from anything. I don't know how much longer I can deal with this.
