Hello ladies! I read the rules and hope I'm doing this the right way!
I'm Terrissa, 25 and dh is 26. We lost our little boy around 13/14 weeks gestation on October 15. It was my first pregnancy and while I was a but nervous, I never dreamed it would end this way. It was a natural miscarriage, but I've had some complications. 2 weeks afterwards I started hemorrhaging badly and rushed to the er. They were concerned there may be retained product and suggested a d&c. My obgyn thought it wouldn't be necessary and gave me medicine to help it pass instead. I continued bleeding, lightly and then heavily, up until now. It's been nine weeks and I *think* the bleeding may have stopped. There is still tiny bits of light spotting.
My miscarriage was said to be caused by an infection. The day before, I had a gush of blood and bad cramping. I saw my midwife and she she examined me and put me on bed rest. She also scheduled an ultrasound for the next day. The rest of the night the cramping continued but there was no more bleeding. I thought everything was fine. The next day, A few hrs before it happened I hit an ultrasound and baby looked great , we had no idea what was going to happen. But the ultrasound guy saw my cervix was opening and suggested we go to the hospital and get an emergency cerclage. Still, had no idea I was about to lose the baby. Maybe I was being naive. We get to the ER and the future examined me and says definitively that I am in the middle of miscarriage and there was nothing to do but wait. We were devastated. We couldn't believe it, just in shock. They said we could go home or stay at the hospital. I was scared and didn't knew how it would go, so wanted to stay there where I could be taken care of. Well about an hour later we got to the room . He came out at soon as we got there.
Well it's been quite an emotional and physically tiring time since then. In and out of doctors offices, hearing all kinds of different opinions. I don't know what to think! I found out in this process that I have fibroids. Most everyone agreed they weren't an issue but one doctor says they could be.
Anyway, there's my story. Hope I'm doing this right. Really looking forward to getting to know some great ladies and we can encourage and support each other in our journeys!

I'm so sorry for your loss, but welcome you to the board. Why did the doctors suspect the loss was from an infection? Did you test positive for an infection via blood test or some other method? Just wondering, in case anyone has had a similar experience.
Thank you all for your warm welcome and condolences.
In regard to the infection, at the hospital when it happened, they took the placenta to pathology and that's where they determined there was an infection. I haven't ruled out the possibility of incompetent cervix though, as it has been mentioned by a number of people I've seen. I see a specialist next week that my midwife suggested, and hopefully she should be able to give us some better answers.
I am a little overwhelmed at all of the replies here, and thankful for each one This seems to be a really close community, and I really am looking forward to getting to know you all more!
I am so sorry. It is so sad that we have to figure out all this info the hard way, through experience
You might also want to check out the Miscarriage board as well. It was a solace to me and maybe others have had similar experiences. As other said, make sure you are being tracked down to 0, particularly with your circumstances. Ugh and to bleed for so long.... take care of yourself.
"Everybody here has got a story to tell. Everybody's been through their own hell. There's nothing too special about getting hurt, but getting over it that takes the work. Because one way or another, we all need each other. Nothing's going to turn out the way you thought it would. Friends and lovers, don't you duck and cover because everything comes out the way it should in the end." -Glen Phillips, "Duck and Cover"
I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you find the peace and comfort that you are looking for here. ((((HUGS))))
