March 2012 Moms

When it rains...

...it pours.

-DD's issue. And we are having a terrible time getting her constipated. I'm following the constipating diet and it just is taking awhile.

-I am having an issue "down there." Could be a simple thing, could be a scary thing. Will find out later today.

-DH has a mole that needs to be removed but with all of DD's stuff, we haven't had time to schedule an appointment.

-DH's car isn't do so hot and we just can't afford to fix it constantly. Nor can we afford a new one. Limping it along until January when he works around here again (he is driving 45min one way right now and doesn't want to leave me home without a car what with all the medical issues). Fix it up, then limp it along even longer until we get our tax return. Hopefully we can find something then for the amount of money we have saved. We really can't afford a car payment.

Can I get a vacation? lol

Re: When it rains...

  • oh! I am so sorry that you have so much on your plate. Thinking of you and hoping that everything gets resolved quickly and easily.

I probably missed it, have they taken a stool sample from your DD to see if her digestive tract is clear of harmful bacteria? You might want to ask about probiotics, if you're not already using them on DD, they can sometimes help reset digestive bacteria after illness and help firm things up some.
The stool sample came back negative. I am getting our well water test though because the whole family's digestive system has been slightly off. It might just be time to shock the well or it might be nothing at all. But that is a place to start. It should have been done last year anyway.

I have the number for a long term bowel management expert but she's been out of the office. Won't be back until Thursday. I'll ask her about probitics, etc. Meanwhile, I'm following the constipating diet guidelines I found online by the Cincinnati Children's Colorectal Center. I kind of figure that is what the expert lady is going to tell me anyway. I have been allowing DD some cheese even though the list said no dairy. Cheese tends to constipate her and I'm getting desperate.

  • Well, my issue appears to be bacterial vaginosis so simple fix with antibiotics. Thank God. We were concerned it would be something more.

DD has only pooped once today! It still isn't the more on the constipated side thst the specialist wants but it's a step closer.

  • So sorry CG. That's a lot to take in :(
  • Just kidding. Lab results came back negative. Now we have to wait on a urinalysis. Won't know until at least tomorrow. :/

  • -They still don't know what's going on with me. On top of all that, I ended up with some GI issues and acid reflux. Those are better now and were treated as most likely a stress reaction. I have meds for that they think I might have. If I'm not better by this weekend, I'm to call on Monday and we will do things like ultrasounds, etc.

-Talked to a specialist in long term bowel management. She says we are doing everything right for DD, it just is going to take some time. She cleared a cup of yogurt per day (recommended it even) and a bit of cheese but no other milk products.

-DH's car is shot. Done. Going to cost more to fix it than it is even worth. Looks like tomorrow and the rest of the weekend will be car shopping. Well, SUV shopping. DH wants something that will be good in the snow since his job has him having to drive in horrible conditions. He really wants a F-150 SuperCrew with a full bed but those are far, far, far out of our price range.

  • Yuck @countrygrl5533‌

FWIW, I have a Pathfinder I really love. You can get AWD at the base level (what I have) which is a plus.
  • Sorry you are having so much going on. I hope you get some relief soon. I am glad that they are letting you give your dd some dairy again.
I have a Chevy Equinox which I really like. It gets great fuel mileage, and has a nice size trunk space. I have AWD and I think it does great in the snow. However, the cons are that it only seats 5, and with 2 carseats in the backseat it is tight. Another negative, might just be a fluke, but I think the seals around the window are junk. The one around the winshield had to be resealed, and now the one on the driver's window is pulling off. Good luck!
