Hello everyone, first time poster here and also a first time mother. I am almost 18 weeks and until last week, I have been pretty steady at a net gain of 0 pounds. Pre-pregnancy I was 163. Up until now I have stayed around 163 give or take a pound, which I would usually lose again and end up back at 163.(FYI, I did not throw up with morning sickness and continued to eat normally through first trimester.) I understand I am supposed to gain weight, that's an important part of pregnancy. My concern is that from week 17 until now I have gained 4.6 pounds! Is this much gain in such a short amount of time is normal? My hands and feet are not swollen or anything that would suggest preeclampsia. I have not really altered my diet. I try to drink plenty of water. Should I be concerned? Or am I just making up for having not gained until now? My husband thinks my pregnancy is finally catching up with me haha. Anyone had a similar experience?
you'll likely have slow weeks/months and then other weeks/months where you gain a lot. Last go around, I gained very little weight most weeks/months and then in 2 weeks i think i gained about 7 lbs... I was shocked, and my Dr. was slightly concerned at such a big jump, but when the only gained about 1 lb the next week she wasn't worried anymore. Like the other posters have said, your medical provider will (or should) let you know if they are concerned.
I lost weight in my first tri and am now just working to get back to my pre pregnancy weight. Just make sure you are talking to your doc. They'll tell you if they are concerned!
