Christmas Insanity?

I am realizing, suddenly, that I have created Christmas insanity.  Today is a day off for me and I am realizing that I need to fill it with crazy gift creating.  

What have I done????

I am currently surrounded by fabric because I want to make these:

So they can look like this: 

And this: 

Sigh.  In addition I want my 11-year-old to make homemade paper as gifts for adults in our family.  And I want to make her a custom duvet cover and pillows.  

What. Have. I. Done. ? . 

Anyone else with me?

I am very impressed with your DIY plans!  DW and I fill Christmas tins with homemade nut butter, tea mix, truffles and short bread, but when it comes to sewing anything other than a button, I'm out.

I too have done entirely online shopping... I wish I could be crafty, and I admire the effort- the dino set is awesome- maybe someday.

I am going to make DIY snow globes this year and hopefully some good sugar or salt scrub.  I did some DIY stuff last year as well.  For the first time in a while, I have no desire to order online.  I'm trying to shop local for the other few things we are getting for family.

I have purchased three gifts so far, oops. I'm hoping to get it done this weekend while the wife watches the kiddos. Fingers crossed!!

We have done almost all online this year. It's busy having a baby and we tried to get as much done as we could before Hayden arrives. We aren't finished but close! Seeing as it's her due date and she has yet to give us any notification of her arrival, we may have more time than we thought to prepare...

Here's why this cracks me up, @cageymack ... if I were surrounded by fabric, intending to create that prehistoric animal village, I would know with every ounce of my being that it would take me at LEAST 2 weeks of solid work to get it done.  You are able to do these things in1 day.  My hat is off to you, Ma'am.

We have done ZERO (0) shopping.  For S's birthday on Sunday we have a babysitter and we plan to head out in the late afternoon to get a little bit of it done.  The rest will be done online, next week (I'm sure), using our Amazon Prime for all it's worth!

@cageymack - I love these!! Kaden would too, alas I have no creative or craft talent in this department.

So far I am super behind. Christmas photos need to be taken... Cards created and mailed... Gifts purchased. It's kind of uncharacteristic of me - or maybe it's the new me?!

We are way behind too. We are making my sister and her boyfriend fleece blankets, everything else will be bought, hopefully soon. We are going to try to get some stuff for M tonight.

wishiwaspreggo & @jazibel: I wish there were dino patterns.  There are some you can buy, but I'm too frugal.  I'm going to make them up, but I decided that I actually will make a paper pattern (which is more than I sometimes do).  So when I'm done, I would be happy to send them to you!  Hopefully it works

And, for those goof-balls who care, I made the fishing thing!  And, let me tell you, it is about awesome.  No, I'm not humble over it.  I made DW sit down and work on them instead of watching Homeland.  If any of you have to boss around a pregnant person, you know what a fine line that is.  She was actually really hoping to make some of the presents, but there is a vast amount of space between wanting to and actually TURNING DOWN VEGETATIVE HOMELAND TIME AND SEWING.  

And we won!

Not quite as awesome as the Pinterest version, but not a Pinterest fail, either.  DW picked out the fabric and I suppose I might have gone all matchy-matchy, but I think I like it better.  We can ask W, "Where is the orange fish?"

DW played with them when we were all done and it really is fun. I think I'm going to add a little fabric circle (frisbee-sized) that W can put on the ground, then he stands on the circle, throws all the fish out onto the floor, then uses the pole and magneto-worm to pick them up, then placing them in the bucket.  He likes standing  on things.    Also, on a less-mannerly note, we decided the worm looks like a poo.

Our biggest crafty gift this year is make hanging succulent gardens in glass ball terrariums. I hope they look cool - but really the effort is minimal compared to sewing which I have a hard timing doing (everything comes out crooked).

@cageymack - these are so awesome! I want to show my wife, but I think I need to wait until after Christmas! She is going to want to attempt to make these, and there is no time!

We are mostly in the "bought" category this year. 50% has come from Amazon. What did we do before Prime?!?! We have a little shopping left to do, which I plan to do either this weekend or Monday at the latest. We did a lot of gift certificates this year, which I have mixed feelings about... It feels less personal, but it also feels practical since I know they will be used. A lot are actually to local businesses (a spa where my FIL gets massages, a salon where my MIL gets her nails done, a local restaurant that my BIL and SIL like to eat)... So I feel good about that at least.

I aspire to be more DIY in the future!
