So DD has taken to waking up at 4am every day for the last week. I give her some milk, change her diaper and by 5 she is back to sleep. But it seems to be a routine now. Here are the facts:
1) she has STTN since 9 months 2) she is getting some teeth but has been teething since August so why now? 3) she is in a toddler bed since September, so unfortunately "leaving her to cry", isn't necessarily an easy option.though I can do that if that's what it takes. 4) our house is incredibly dry so I can understand if it's a thirst thing.
DD started doing this a few weeks ago. Like your LO, she would go back down after a diaper change and some snuggles. The past week has been better, waking briefly and putting herself back to sleep. I did let her cry a bit as long as she didn't reach screaming, which seemed to help. If it's dry in your house, I would use a humidifier and crank it up.
3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)
IVF and Natural FET resulted in BFN's and a hole in our wallets
Natural BFP #4 on 9/7/12 gave us our miracle on 5/18/13
We are in the middle of this now too, and I really feel it's gotta be a developmental thing for my DD. DD started STTN around 14 months consistently, and then suddenly about a month ago started waking MOTN again--it isn't every night, though. She's in the middle of a language explosion right now, so I really think that she's just having a hard time turning her brain off at night. I hope it passes soon for everyone going through it right now!
OMG my kid is more of a jerk but it makes me feel better that others are going through this! I mentioned in the WM check-in that Saturday night he was up from 1:30-4:00 and then got up for the day at 5:45. This morning he got up for the day at 3:30. He's a whiny cranky irritable toddler because of all of this and I really can't wait until he goes back to his sweet little self!
P.S. I'm also a whiny cranky irritable toddler because of all of this.
Ours only lasted for a couple of weeks with K waking up full on screaming as if he was having a nightmare 2-3 times a night. He'd wake me up in a panic and was difficult to console at times. Now that he's back on track I wouldn't even blink at a random 6 am wake up. It's like he retrained me to appreciate his sleep habits!
We are going through this as well. He has STTN since 10weeks old and only had a random night here and there where he would wake up 1-2 times. But the last 3-4 weeks he has been waking up at least 2 times a night. And often is up for the day at 4am.....ugh.....Sometimes we will have a two day stretch of STTN again and I think "yay we are done with this regression" then bam back to waking. When he does wake the only thing that gets him back down is nursing him. I'm afraid that now it is habit again.
I'm just really hoping it is just a phase and it passes soon.
We get wake ups around 4 and our normal sleep training tactics don't really work to get her back to sleep. She's got her back molars right under the skin. THis phase is going on 2 months for us.

My kid is a jerk. I'm sure of it. Kidding... kind of. O has been a poor sleeper since birth. We did sleep training and it worked for like 3 weeks. Until the next ear infection. He's had so many that I wonder if the evening discomfort is another ear infection now. He used to get high fevers, not anymore so I have no way of telling except going to the pedi. Then the antibiotics mess up his digestion so that keeps him up. If we get 2 days straight of sttn, it's like we won the freaking lottery.
Owen also puts himself to sleep at bedtime but not motn. It's a careful, stressful game to get him back to sleep, then back in his crib. Usually a few tries until we're successful. I miss sleep.
We aren't having a problem with motn waking, but my kid will just not go to sleep. Even with the boob! I try to put her down around 8 and it ends up being a wrestling match until 9:30.
Re: 18 month sleep regression or is my kid a jerk?
