DH and I really like the name Eleanor, but when I was pregnant last time (Team Green) some people said it was too old fashion and even those who weren't vocal seemed to have negative reactions to it. DD's name is Emily and DS's name is Noah. Thoughts? We also like the name Annalise, but at this point Eleanor is still on the top.
Eleanor is very much in style right now. I prefer Annalise with your sibset.
It does seem to flow better. Plus Ann is my MIL's middle name and Rose is my mother's middle name. I think Annalise Rose sounds nice and honors both of our mothers.
I love Eleanor, and don't think of it as too old fashioned. I like Anneliese as well, but only with this spelling. All I see is anal-ease with Annalise.
Oh dear God, thank you for pointing that out! Something to take into account for sure!
I did know quite a few old ladies named Eleanor when I was younger, but, I work in a school and there are several Eleanors running around. Not a ton, but maybe 3 or 4. I think it's like Olive, Ruby, etc. Those names aren't considered old fashioned any more because so many little girls have those names again. Also, nicknames like Ella, Elle, Nora, etc. are also very popular right now, and having the given name "Eleanor" is one way to get to them!

Definitely not too old fashioned. My only thought is though with Emily and Noah it's almost like a combo of those (not so much sound but look wise) and I don't care for it with their names.
I feel that Eleanor has that "old" vibe to it, but tthat shouldn't stop you from using the name that you love. It doesn't matter what others think if it's the perfect name in your eyes.
I love Eleanor, but my first thought was that you couldn't use either of the typical nicknames with it - Ellie, which is too close to Emily, and - Norah, which is too close to Noah
Eleanor is fine, but it is a little close to Emily, especially if you like Ellie as a nn. I also agree with pp that it seems like a combo of Emily and Noah.
Annalise is lovely, less common, and works better in the sibset. Would you be going with "Aw-na-lease" or "Ah-na-lease" for pronunciation? I read "Aw-na" and definitely don't think about anal anything.
I don't think it's too old fashioned at all. My husband has a 5 year old cousin named Eleanor. She tends to go by Ellie but the name fits her very well. I think it's lovely.
