Potty Training at Night

At what age should you start this? My son is potty trained during the day but still wears a pull up to bed and for naps. He wakes up from naps almost always dry and wakes up in the morning dry about 75% of the time. He turned 3 in August.

Any tips on potty training at night would be awesome!:)

Re: Potty Training at Night

  • We didn't really do anything special. Once DS was consistently waking up dry from overnights (about 2 weeks), we just put him to bed in his big boy underwear and hoped for the best. Only one accident in the month since we've done that.

We always put him on the potty right before bed so he goes to bed on a (hopefully) empty bladder. We also tell him that if he wakes up at night and needs to pee, to use the toilet just like he does during the day.

  • You don't. When he's ready to stay dry at night he will and then you can put him in underwear. For now leave him in diapers at night. He'll get there eventually.
