DS was born 3 weeks early so I'm wondering if he'll be a little behind on milestones or if that's more like if they are born 5-6 weeks early. He's 7 weeks now and still not social smiling my other 2 were smiling by 4-5 weeks. Just curious if maybe that's why?
I don't know what the official answer is but DS1 was 3 weeks early and always seemed to be on the later end of normal as far as milestones go until about a year old. It's hard to say if that was because he was a little early or if that was just his pace.
Yes, I'm surprised your pedi hasn't mentioned adjusted age. Some babies, even slightly premature, need their age adjusted with regard to milestones. Some don't. When you say 3 weeks early, do you mean 37 weeks or 34 weeks?
