We went in today for our first ultrasound, and saw a 7w2d baby with a heartbeat of 153! While we are excited, there is some concern with the fact they found a SCH. If you had experience with this, how did you handle it? Did it resolve itself? The doctor today said I could resume activities as usual...exercise, lifting, sex...but I still find this risky. I would appreciate any advice! Thank you
Congrats on the ultrasound. I was put on pelvic rest with mine (last time). I was allowed to continue working because my commute was only about 30 miles round trip & I sat at a desk all day long. The bleeding can range from really severe to spotting when you wipe. I'd wear a decent sized pad at all times until you get the all clear from the doc. Mine took 3 or 4 weeks to resolve, but it did. I only had bleeding for about a day, just some random spotting after that. GL!
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and advice! I was completely surprised, because I have not spotted or bled at all this pregnancy. The doctor did tell me not to be alarmed if I bled a little, and that it should be darker in color. I am cutting back on heavy lifting as much as I can. I have two boys, ages 3 and 1, so I can't completely eliminate lifting and physical activity. DH and I have been so nervous to have sex, so we haven't yet, and won't until this SCH (hopefully) goes away. I go in for a repeat u/s in 3 weeks, so I hope and pray it has resolved itself by then! In the meantime, I am steering clear from Google because it is just freaking me out. Thank you all again so much for your time and responses!
Congrats on the healthy babe! I was diagnosed with a pretty large (7cm) SCH at 12 weeks. I woke with slight bleeding one morning and they found the SCH that day. I completely freaked out, which was probably understandable, but had to keep with my PGAL mantras. I went back for another scan a week later and the SCH had shrunk/bled out to half the size at 3.5 cm. I have been spotting on and off since the first bleed and am currently still carrying a healthy babe at 15 weeks.

Don't have personal experience with SCH, other that to say that this question comes up often on this board, so they must be very common.
