So, I know standard flat size is 27x27. But I have a bunch of flannel that is 2 inches wide, and was wondering something. If I am making flats for a newborn and don't plan on using them for long (We have a large stash of AIO and pockets for after he fits OS diapes) would it be feasible to make some that are 21x21 to be able to get two out of the 42 inch wide fabric? I figure they wouldnt be big enough much later when baby is bigger, but I could still use them to add extra stuff to pockets or as a liner/doubler.

eta: you can always use 2 when baby is bigger
