So with DS1, I either don't remember, or he didn't have tanturms like DS2 has. Whenever something happens that he's not ok with (i.e. time to go inside, time to change your diaper, time to put on pjs), it's a throw himself backwards, on the floor, screaming tanturm, kicking, etc...
What's the recommendation??
Re: Tanturms
I ignore the tantrum but continue to calmly speak to LO like--
"Whenever you are done, we will get your shoes on."
"Allison, as soon as I am done cutting the chicken I will pour you more milk"

"You know that place between sleep and awake,
that place where you can still remember dreaming?
That's where I will always love you.
That's where I'll be waiting."

I usually ignore and walk away, don't engage until E calms down.
Perspective!
I've found with Abby (since she was a year) if I let her know I hear her & that I know it's hard that the tantrums tend to be less dramatic.

But really, sometimes I laugh at ty because he's tantruming about something so ridiculous. Other times I try and redirect him. Sometimes I let him lay on the floor and have his tantrum then we move on...
Toddlers have minds of their own!
Then distract. I also label feelings. DH thinks it should just stop. H that's enough....
