I want to do this tomorrow, but I've only ever heard about it here. Is this a big thing allergy parents will know about? So like, if I have a tray with a teal pumpkin, and our usual bowl, that we hold out to TOTers, will they get it? What kind of candy are you all putting in your teal pumpkins? I've never really dealt with food allergies, so outside of the obvious, I've never given it much thought. I don't want to claim it's safe food if it's not.
My DS is highly allergic to peanuts, soy, gluten, and wheat. I don't know if you have a health food store near by, but they typically carry allergen free candy. If you don't want to do candy, you can always hit up the dollar bins at Target.
My kids are nut allergic. We always give out nut free stuff...rice crispy treats or fruit snacks. I believe they are both gluten free too. Not sure if the rice crispy treats have milk though.
You are awesome @mcbenny both my niece and nephew are highly allergic to nuts and I love you found candy too because you are right about kids feeling bad when they don't have candy to eat too
Re: Teal Pumpkin
This is what our neighbors are doing. We won't be home to hand out candy but I think its an excellent idea.
