  • I love house plants. My husband says I have a problem. I would much rather receive one for a gift than most of the things people get when they don't really know you (lotion, candles, etc.)
I do hate when people give me stinky candles. I like the ones that do not smell like food, but people are always giving me vanilla or apple spice or cake-scented candles. Barf.
I completely agree... The sweet smelling ones make me very nauseous... Ewgg

I would have had an elective induction if my original due date with DD had stuck. It would have been due to an impending move (due date June 20, move June 30) to make sure my delivery was covered by insurance. The plan was to induce no later than my due date so any possible complications would have some time to resolve while still covered.

I'm not in favor of early elective inductions just for the hell of it. But sometimes there's a legit non-medical reason.

My son was 9.04 when he was born and his shoulder got stuck. This time around my doctor has told he won't let me go past 39 weeks. I'm hoping to go on my own but we may have to induce to prevent ginormous baby syndrome :)

I hope to go into labor as close to my due date as possible.  Any earlier and I miss out on paid time off.  Later and I lose precious maternity leave days.  Also, I will probably cry if we have any snow days that we need to make up at the end of the year (thus also cutting in to paid time off/maternity leave).

Also, FFThC?  I loved the glucose drink.  Thought it tasted like orange pop.  It was cold when I had it though, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if it had been room temp.

They can do that to you?

If they shut the school down don't they HAVE to just give you the day? thats how my college works.
I have serious outrage for you right now

Yep.  The state minimum for school days is 180 student contact days.  If we have fewer than that, we're breaking the law.  One year, we have FIVE days to make up.

What makes me stabby is that this year, we switched to the new option of an hours accountability system (1,080 hours).  We are well over that minimum requirement, yet our superintendent made the executive decision that we'll still make up snow days at the end of the year to maintain the standard level education and learning.  I get that.  But, research has shown that making up those days doesn't really impact student learning.  It's mostly about the fact that our contract shows us getting paid for those days, so we're obligated to work them, which also makes sense, I'm just being a cry-baby about it.  We are also the only district in the area that has to report to school on-time even when it's a district late-start due to inclement weather (they do add the disclaimer-as soon as safely possible).

It made me vomit and made me feel horrible for the entire day. I was shaking. And since i vomited I had to go back! It invalidates the test! (My MW goes straight to the fasting 2-hour diagnostic, skipping the 1 hr screening--when I called to reschedule they let me do the 1 hr instead since it makes you less sick. Or I could've just monitored my whole pregnancy as if I had GD)

I mean, it's better than diabetes for sure. I wasn't really dreading it that much until the second visit because it had made me so sick! But for me at least it was a fairly unpleasant medical procedure. Not the end of the world, I have perspective about how much it sucks compared to GD or other complications, but I still hated it.
Yeah, IDreallyGAF about the taste, but fasting + ingesting that amount of sugar in such a short time = horrible for someone already prone to migraines. I get that there are worse things in life, but that doesn't make the test any more pleasant for me.

SOA is awesome. Charlie Hunnam is extra hot. You are confused. (I still love you, though.) The point is that all the characters are flawed. They're human.

Yeah, I know they're supposed to be flawed, but to enjoy a show, I just need to have a character that I'm rooting for, that I like enough to care what happens to them. I though Jax's mom was a good person but then she turned out to be nasty and then I lost all faith in that show. I had to stop watching Mad Men for the same reason, disliked all the characters so much and all the adultery pissed me off. But hey, to each their own. I guess I'm just too judgmental to watch TV haha

Unless you have a medical condition like pre-eclampsia or GD there is no medical reason to induce early. Women do it because of personal reasons (tired of being pregnant, want the baby to share a birthdate with another family member, etc). Doctors will sometimes pressure women into early c-sections ("oh my gosh your baby *might* be 8.5 pounds!!!!") because it is easier for them. The national board of OBGYNs recently changed the standard of "term birth" from anytime after 37 weeks to between 39 weeks and 40 weeks, 6 days. They did this in large part because several of the 37 and 38 week elective c-section babies were ending up in the NICU. Doctors used to think that babies just put on weight the last 3 weeks of pregnancy, but it turns out that there is a lot of lung development that happens in those weeks.

I have to be induced no later than 39 weeks because I'm on a theraputic dosage of blood thinners.  I have to be off of the blood thinners for 2 days before induction so I don't bleed to death, and if I go longer than 2 days I have to have a c-section so I don't clot because I've been off the thinners too long.  It's really annoying.  Also, if I show signs of going into labor earlier, I'll be induced right away.

My U/O is that even in my medically necessary induction, I really hate being induced and wish I could go into labor naturally.  It does take forever and though I don't have anything to compare it to, pitocin induced contractions hurt like hell, and it's just cruel to have to force a cervix open that doesn't want to be.  But hey, I'd rather live right? DH is unhappy that he misses the excitement of rushing me to the hospital because I'm in labor.

I also hate chocolate and will remove all chocolate from my halloween candy and give it to DH.

Edit because my computer is stupid.

@jackieanddan1989‌, I actually prefer shows where there isn't a clear "good guy." Like SOA, Mad Men, the Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, etc.

Speaking of which, is anyone watching the series The Affair on Showtime? I'm hooked.

I do as well. It is very hard to continue producing a show where your main characters really aren't likable, good, people. Breaking Bad and House of Cards fall into this category for me as well.

I haven't seen The Affair but The Knick is another new one that started off well for me.
In Breaking Bad they start out likeable, and then just go on a nasty downward spiral to being horrible people. And even then there are ebbs and flows to it. I keep waiting for redemption, it keeps me hanging on. I still have one season to go, but I imagine it is one of those shows where redemption is impossible, and destruction is the only way out.

In regards to cable, we got rid of ours a couple of years ago.  We've tried cable and Dish and both were raping our wallets.  Instead we use Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Go, and Hulu Plus.  Since we have pay for internet we get HBO Go and basic cable for a fee of $10/month.
