Ugh. Just got a call with my 3rd beta draw results. Here's the whole set so far:
4wks - 61.1
4w2d- 112.57 (doubling time of 52.84)
4w6d- 284.19 (doubling time of 71.85 hours)
The nurse from the RE's office who called me was very positive about it and said the rise is "absolutely appropriate" for the range they would hope to see. She kept saying, "this is good" and was really encouraging. But of course my PGAL brain is going nuts.
I know that the generally accepted doubling time is anywhere from 48 to 72 hours. And I've sort of heard people say that their REs like to see an increase of at least 60% over 2 days (mine says that 50% is OK). But REALLY? Why do my numbers have to be at the absolute low end/borderline of that spectrum? Come on little babycakes, pick up the pace!
I will get one more draw, either Friday or Monday. When I go in is totally up to me and how laid back and/or crazy I'm feeling. U/S not until 7 weeks.
If anyone has positive stories about betas that were lowish and slowish to rise, or about doubling times more than 48 hours, I'd love to hear them. Only positive stories, please. I already know where this could be headed, and I'm trying to stay positive.
Sending huge hugs and positive vibes for your betas! I know how hard this is. Try to remember what your RE office said When do you think you will go back?

I'm sorry that you're feeling this way. I received the news on my third beta draw today and doctor just said things were good. She left a message saying if I want to know the numbers I can call back but I'm not going to! Can you ask them to stop telling you numbers and just ask for good/not so good feedback?

@lyndz333 Hmmm, that's a good idea, but it might be too late for that. Since I only have 1 more draw, I figure I might as well just get the results.
I think your betas look good. I posted my betas for you with this and with DD's pregnancy in your previous thread so no other empirical data for you. I know that you are so scared right now and I wish that someone could tell you definitively that things are going to be okay and that you could accept that, too.
FWIW you are not crazy or being sensitive or overanalyzing...there is no point or milestone in these PGAL pregnancies where any of us feel truly safe, we just go from waiting on one result to the next, hoping for the best and prepping for/guarding against the worst.
We are here for you! Creepy internet hugs

I'm sorry your betas are making you so worried. FWIW, my first beta at 14dpo was only 48. My doubling time stayed right around 48 hours, but I can tell you that I did A TON of googling looking for success stories with lower start/slower rise numbers and I found plenty. And my nurse assured me that faster =/= better. As long as your betas are rising within the appropriate time frame, which yours are, that's what matters. Big (((((HUGS))))).

I've got EVERYTHING crossed for you and babycakes and continued great rising beta #'s!! I remember researching betas when I got my bfp because I insisted on testing every 48 hours (I actually had to be told to stop asking for beta tests @-) ) and there's such a variance out there! If the RE's nurse is telling you the numbers are good, I'd just hang tight to that. I know it's easier said than done. ((((HUGS))))!!!!

My initial doubling time was 63.5 hours, and then it went closer to 48 hours from there. I read that it can start off doubling at a slow pace, and it eventually picks up. Best of luck to you and fingers crossed for awesome numbers next time!!!

@ericaD777 The BabyMed one is the calculator and chart I've been using. Unfortunately, it puts my doubling time between my last 2 betas as "below normal" on their curve... but just barely! If I plug in just my 1st and 3rd numbers, then it gives me an overall average doubling time of 64.93, which is within "normal" range on their chart. Oh, the numbers games we play...
I WILL try to get out of my head, I WILL try to get out of my head...
Everyone else has covered it, faster doubling =/= better. Your numbers are doubling & they look great. Beta hell absolutely sucks!!! I hope your next one lets you breathe easier. Hugs lady! Grow little baby!!!
I know it is so hard not to worry, but I feel that doctors and nurses are not usually blindly optimistic. They generally are more cautious. So for that reason, I'd try to believe your nurse when she says things are looking good. I don't think she'd say that if she had any reason for concern. Lots of hugs. I wish you could get an earlier ultrasound but I'll pray that your betas continue to increase!
@megdowntheshore Yes, this is what I keep trying to drill into my thick skull. This is a nurse at my RE's office. She deals with betas day in and day out. I have talked to her many times and she knows my history. I do not think she would jerk me around with false hope.
Grow BabyBookish!! Analyzing these numbers will drive you absolutely crazy. I think it's wonderful that they are rising and that your doctor's office is please with the numbers. I have everything crossed for you!!!!

Aw, thanks for checking in, ladies. I've decided to wait until Monday. My sweet DS (3) is so excited about Halloween and we have lots of fun plans over the weekend, so I don't want to bring everyone down obsessing about betas.
I've already figured out that I'm looking for a # of like 1450 or higher on Monday.
That would put me at a doubling time of 72. Anything higher than that would be awesome. Anything lower will have me talking with my RE about an earlier scan to rule out ectopic. He has not brought up the possibility of ectopic, but someone on another board is going through one and asked me when she saw my betas whether my RE had mentioned the possibility. Cue freak-out. I think I need to step away from other boards until I know more (except for my safe lil' PgAL check-in, of course).
