My BF works at a call centre as a bilingual client services rep. So, basically taking incoming calls in French and English from employees of a large multinational who have benefits inquiries.
He doesn't love it, but it's a (smallish) paycheque. He is so capable and smart, but lacks direction and confidence. Every day I wish for him to pick a new career direction and throw himself into it with gusto, because he'd be so very able to succeed if he just put his mind to it; But...he doesn't really know what to throw himself into and he's afraid of making the wrong choices. So...that's that, for the time being.
Director of sales at an automotive supply company is his title but I'm not sure exactly what he 'does' because he seems to do lots of stuff I don't fully understand.
@clgsquared So far we have been good with the travel part. They are a small company, so he has not had to travel all that much. Hope it stays that way.
My DH is a professor. He is freaking brilliant and makes me feel dumb sometimes. ETA: I have 2 sisters and one is also married to a professor. My middle sis is single and we joke that we need to find her a professor, too.
Me: 37 DH: 45 BFP #1 3/19/14 EDD 11/29/14 MMC D&C 4/24/14 BFP #2 12/4/14 Beta #1 218 at 12dpo Beta #2 1055 at 16dpo Saw heartbeat 12/29. Please be a rainbow.
DH is a finance and credit supervisor for a very large cooperation. He's interviewing for a promotion where he would be an area sales manager over a large region. I admire his ambition.
Me: 38 DH: 40 TTC#1 (and likely only) since 9/13. Saw RE 5/14, SA good, AMH 2.36, FSH 7.2, estradiol 69.6 indicating good egg reserve. Using OPKs. First Letrozole cycle 6/14, a burst cyst and a BFN. Second Letrozole cycle 7/14, BFN.
Update 11/14 - had laparoscopy 10/28, good news is that my uterus and left tube look good, and they were able to drain the cyst on my left ovary. Bad news is that right tube and ovary have endo and scar tissue, so they're pretty useless.. Best news is that we finally have some answers and a path forward. Taking 7.5 mg letrozole CD 2-6 to put that good left ovary through its paces.
UPDATE 2/2015 - We switched to another fertility clinic, but fortunately we don't have to start all over. We're doing two cycles of Clomid plus IUI, if neither of those take, we'll do IVF in April, potentially with ICSI. (DH's SA has gone downhill, likely due to excessive exercise.) IUI#1 2/25/15....
MH owns his own business. His background is graphic design which he uses in the business, vehicle wraps, banners, business cards, signs, etc. Etc.
In so very glad he finally reached his dream of opening his own shop but owning a business is hard and it's just him with one other person that helps with the car wraps. Oh and I help whenever I have the time but my job is so busy and I'm the breadwinner so I can't quit to help him fulltime. Probably a good thing, we may just kill each other if we worked together all the time lol
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.
Maya Arvigo Abdominal massage (daily self care), plus TTC meditations.
I'm very sensitive to diet (gluten, avoid processed foods) and environment. Have a history of inflammation and tendinitis before going off gluten in 2009.
July 2014 - RE Visit #1: Eggs look good, Endometrioma on R ovary, HSG showed blocked R tube close to ovary. DH SA normal
DX: Endometriosis probably the IF cause and gunking up tubes. Since egg reserve is high, RE says I can wait a couple months and then get laproscopic surgery to remove endo & clear tube. If that doesn't help then move to IVF.
Dec 2014 - Saw new RE - does not recommend surgery on tube as it isn't likely to help. Doubts I have endometriosis. My endometrioma shrunk to neglible size (yay!)
MH is a lawyer, too. We have very different lives as lawyers...not sure either of us like it, but he has a lot more flexibility and I'm jealous of that!
DH is a high school English Teacher. Adjuncted college students for a while like me, but really just loves working with 11th and 12th grade. And it's nice he gets the benefits of tenure and it allows me a flex schedule of only having to teach/work part-time.
TTC#1, I'm 37, DH 36 | Just started trying Sept 2014
Going in for first RE appt. in October...Preparing for good or bad news.
Trying to be chill about the process...and not get too intense about it all.
My DH is a corrections officer at a regional jail. We actually met when he had to sit with a prisoner that was admitted to my hospital (I'm a RN House Supervisor). My DH kept asking for sandwiches and food and where I am the only administration in the hospital on nights I had the keys to the kitchen. So I kept bringing him food. Little did I know at the time he was hiding half of the food just to get me to come back into the room It was cute and I finally gave in and gave him my number. One year later we got married
@mereduthcarole His specialty is meats, especially smoked meats. But there is a couple of things he wants to embark on. In the more touristy section of where we live near the beach or by the college we wants to do a gourmet pizza by the slice/pie. He also wants a stand alone restaurant of southern cooking using his family's recipes. That aspect will have a mobile food truck to cater the downtown business district for breakfast and lunch crowds.
Huge perk - my FI is a chiropractor It's fun to see the wide variety of careers!
Me: 43, DOR FI: 44, SA normal TTC Since Nov 2013

@Silly Sally24 My DH also talks about becoming a masseuse but then I would worry he would use up all his skills on clients and have nothing left for me!! I've always been terrified to try a chiro - but if it is your H I'm guessing you know he will take care of you!!
I keep reading "sahd" as "salad." Clearly I need to ease up on the painkillers.

@Nikolie93 He loves it! He is worn the hell out for sure, but it just happened for us wasn't planned. He was injured and had to leave work, it is financially impossible for us to pay for other childcare so it is a win for that reason. He very frequently states he is aware of how blessed he is to be home and not many men get/take the opportunity.
We would however both like the roles to be reversed.
My BF is an actor. It's great but he keeps having to travel for projects. He's been out of town for 3 weeks now working on a film. That part sucks but it's his dream and he's getting more and more work. @kelley72 he'll be the SAHD once we do have a little one, since my income is a more steady income. Unless he becomes a big star in the next year. Haha! @Austrogermokee we call frozen yogurt salad. It makes me feel less guilty eating it. Haha!
@kelley72 glad he likes it! It would make sense for MH to do it but he'd worked so hard for his business. I think it would be hard for him to give that up Oh well, we have plenty of time to think about that now!
@Teenie16 I'm so going to call my ice cream salad now. Thanks for the great idea! :-D
