July 2014 Moms

teeth.

We just noticed our little man has 3 teeth cutting through. FTM so I didn't realise it could happen this early. Any other moms with me on this? Couple weeks ago I stopped breastfeeding because he was chewing. Causing them to chap and bleed. STM. Hints to survive? Now I understand our recent sleepless nights. Thought it was an ear infection at first.... nope. Surprise.

Re: teeth.

  • There has actually been a fair amount of research showing that teething doesn't actually bother a baby as much as we think it does.  The sleeplessness usually comes along with the typical sleep regressions that occur around the age of teething (6 months).  Your LO is 14 weeks, so it very well could be the 4 month sleep regression.  DD started her regression at 12.5 weeks and we are just now starting to get a little better sleep.

  • Yep. 16 weeks here and we have two teeth cutting currently. Mostly she's fine, her sleep hasn't been affected, only noticeable discomfort is that sometimes she doesn't want to eat, even when she's hungry. She'll latch, to either nipple or bottle, and pull off repeatedly and scream. I just put a teething tablet under her tongue and as soon as it's done she eats no problem. There's the typical drooling, chewing on fingers, and bringing her toys to her mouth, but she isn't as bothered as I thought she'd be.

  • Yes to the teething necklace. We used that too. Baltic amber is the kind I bought. I worried about her sleeping with it on so I wrapped it around he ankle:)

  • Thank you ladies for the input.
I didnt need to wean him. He only nursed morning and night. Other than that I EP. He just never had a good latch so it was a pain to do. I just dropped pumping slowly.
