Today is going to be a long day. I finally gave up on trying to sleep in bed and have moved to the couch. Hopefully I will eventually get some sleep...
In the meantime, it's a new day so let's hear some more randoms!
I'm up because the dog was crying. I set my bread maker, the washing machine and the dishwasher all on the timers last night- makes me feel like a genius when I wake up to fresh bread and clean dishes and laundry! Having breakfast with DH and attempting to install the car seat. Then I'm going shopping with MIL while DH sleeps (he's working overnight).
I am hoping some serious nesting kicks in today. My parents are taking DS for most of the day to go to a basketball game and Halloween party. I hope to clean and organize like crazy and not be a lazy bum.
@AnnieRoo13 Thanks! Me too And I'm pretty sure you are a genius given everything you manage to get done while pregnant and working ;-) Hope shopping goes well!
@FhSTAR81 I hope the rest of Addison's day, and yours, goes well! It sounds like you both have some fun adventures ahead of you.
I'm laying in bed right now feeling so appreciative for the timing of this baby. DS was such a bad sleeper for so long. He didn't STTN reliably for well over a year, then for another year or so he woke up at 5-5:30 every day (after going to bed at 9:30-10, which he still does). He also would wake up screaming every. Single. Day. It was soooooo hard mentally to be woken up at 5am by a screaming baby for years, and hard to have literally zero time before bed or in the morning with just DH.
Now, he sleeps til 7-7:30, he wakes up in a good mood, and he just hangs out chatting with his stuffed animals for awhile before calling for us. Never never never have I appreciated peaceful mornings so much.
I'm just so grateful to have this little golden period before diving back into newborn world.

@Kllopez1221 Maybe you and DH can get your cuddles in later today? Joint nap time or a movie are great ways to try and make up for missed cuddle times.
I'm so sorry to read about how everyone can't sleep. My little girl is not gaining weight so I have to wake her every two hours to feed. Totally worth the not sleeping, but I wish you all would get some good rest before your little ones come!!!
@AnnieRoo13 I am convinced you never sleep. You bathe and are incredibly productive. That's all.
In other news, MY DRESSER FINALLY CAME! AWing nursery pics (now that it is DONE!!!)
Woke up at 4 with awful cramps. Moved to the the couch and the nanny kids came running down the stairs running and screaming around 7..... Happy Saturday to me.
Sorry everyone else can't sleep! It really sucks. I use to love sleep and now I hate trying to go to bed.
I want to throat punch anyone who refers to me as a young mother. Unfortunately it's usually my mother or MIL who do this. Don't they know how many years I successfully avoided pregnancy? I'm married and 30 for goodness sakes.
This app says I should be "nesting." Yo, motivation & energy ..where ya at? Oh that's right, 7 trickle trips to the bathroom and endless heartburn have made sleep a thing of mythical legends.
@AnnieRoo13 I may have shot you eye daggers through the phone..pff laundry and fresh baked bread.. What are you.. a pregnant unicorn? kidding of course but send some of your awesomeness my way.
@KUinCBUS - I hope DH is ok! That is scary. Glad you are getting him to the doc ASAP. Let us know what they say.
I agree with @FirstBabyDoyle - @AnnieRoo13 is a dang unicorn! Shoot, im proud of myself for getting DH to drive down to the local breakfast place. You are a domestic goddess my friend!!
1. DS and I are planning a lazy cartoon watching day today. I ran a bunch of final baby prep errands yesterday, went to my weekly dr appt, got my niece's b-day shopping done (her b-day is on Thanksgiving this year), organized and sanitized all my pumping supplies, breast feeding stuff, and baby bottles, and did all the laundry. And also went into work for 2hrs on my day off to wrap up last minute items on a project. So I am not going to feel guilty for having a lazy cartoon filled day at home with DS today. Only item on my to do list is work on cloth diaper prep and stripping which doesn't take too much physical effort just time consuming.
2. While taking an epsom bath last night I got to thinking about how I will know "IF" my water breaks while laboring at home. I plan to spend alot of time in the bath laboring before heading to the hospital when the time is right. I am now irrationally worried my water will break while in the bath and I won't know it. They broke my water at the hospital last time so i have no personal reference to what it felt like to happen on its own. Ladies who's water broke on its on did you 'feel' it or was the wetness/liquid gush/trickle your only indication?
3. I have an Ergo Carrier but want to get a K'tan for when baby is smaller (first 6ish months or so) but I can't seem to pull the trigger on buying one because I am unsure if I should get a extra small or a small. My pre-pregnancy dress size was a 4 or 6 depending on brand so I am in between sizes. It says to size down if in between but I am obviously not going to be fitting in my pre-pregnancy size right after birth so I am afraid the XS might be too small to use right away. Such a FW Problem.....
I really hope my water breaks because honestly, I don't think I will know when I am in labor! When I have contractions, they don't hurt. I get really bad pains/cramps, but they don't make my uterus tight. Lord help me.
@jillybean7582 I am also a 4-6 pre pregnancy. I got the KTan in a Small for the same reasons that you mentioned. I doubt I'll be anywhere close to a 4 again for a while.
@lovebuggies1 I'm in the same boat with thinking 10 lb must be in my swollen feet and hands. Just this morning my husband asked, "Why do they even say 25 lbs? That's not even possible." Soo nice to hear given how much I've gained!
Hubby wore earplugs to bed last night so my pregnancy snoring wouldn't wake him up, which means I got to keep snoring and he didn't wake me up--great night of sleep! Time for a scone and then being ambitious and heading to the gym. We'll see how long I last on the elliptical.
My blood pressure was a bit high for me yesterday (134/78) so I mentioned to the nurse that I had just had coffee and she acted like I said I just drank two bottles of vodka. Now hubby is concerned about it, even though the recommendation I've seen is under 300 mg/day and I only have 65 mg (one Nespresso pod). Thaankks nurse.
@KUinCBUS - glad your Dh is getting better and I hope you can figure out what it was easily.
Well, a 7 hour binge of "Call the Midwife" last night didn't get the message through to LO. Went to bed at 4:45am and cat napped for about 4 hours. Tried a walk this morning since it's finally gotten cooler and all it did was make my back hurt. Did help the swelling in my feet, though. Really thankful Floridians can wear flip flops any time.

Morning everyone. I feel awful and not sure what's going on. I keep having boughts of pain on my right side only and it's making me nauseous. No idea if this is contractions or what. I don't feel bad enough to call doc yet. It almost feels like an upset stomach? Going to monitor the situation and see what happens. My mom thinks it might be my gallbladder? We have tickets to see Kevin James tonight and I really really want to go. Plus our maternity photos in an hour. Just need to make it through today and I can relax all day tomorrow...
On a positive note we went to our local fire dept this AM and I'm so glad we went! Definitely didn't have our seat installed correctly and we learned a lot. PSA to all FTMs I highly recommend having your seats inspected!
@KUinCBUS I hope your husband gets to feeling better!!! That sounds miserable!!
As for me, next to no sleep last night, and sharp back pain. My hubs is taking the kids and pup with him to run along the beach. So at least I'll have some time to myself and a quiet house for a couple hours. Later tonight were surprising the kids and taking them to Brick or Treat at Legoland. I'm excited to see their reactions!! We love Legoland and havnt been in a couple months, so I know they'll be stoked!
DBG wife, Pre-Med student, and Scentsy Certified Consultant
went grocery shopping at target and probably overexerted myself. started having pretty strong contractions, we're talking sweating and pacing and bending over my cart in pain contractions. but i was determined to finish grocery shopping since i was there! and i figured they would calm down once i was home and resting.
so i manage to get home and a friend i ran into in the parking lot at target followed me to help unload my bags for me. i sit down to rest and pretty quickly the contractions start calming down. but then i realize my underwear and jeans are all WET. so i'm thinking maybe my water broke, but i'm not sure. after going to the bathroom, still not sure. everything was wet, but i wasn't dripping and it didn't seem to me like enough fluid (my dr said my fluid level is on the high side), but it was confusing!
so i text my dr and she says to go get checked out at L&D. so i shower, go and spend about 4 hours there only to learn my water didn't break (so maybe i peed myself? or just sweat a TON? that's embarrassing...) but i was consistently having contractions every 3-5 minutes the whole time i was there. but, no dilation! such a bummer to hear... the nurse said since my contractions are so consistent she would be surprised if i wasn't back this weekend but who knows! i don't really feel them a lot of the time...
so i'm back in the boat with everyone else again, could be an hour, could be weeks still. i'm anxious!
our family consists of myself, my wonderful husband and my 3 sweet step-kiddos.
@Econosaurus, @carolineheider, and @scarlet3egonias thanks for the tips. I am going to go with the XS. Rather have a snug fit than too loose. With a 2yr old I will need to have my hands mostly free to use while still feeling baby girl is secure.
Now I just have to wait for my next 20% BRU coupon. I have a $25 dollar gift card so between the gift card and coupon I will only have to spend $15ish for it. Super Score!
Sorry to all the ladies not sleeping, or feeling poorly. I will sit quietly in the corner and not mention that most moments, I don't even feel pregnant...
Now for the important stuff:
Seriously ladies, who is this "Felicia" everyone says goodbye to? Is she from a trashy reality show?
Thank you for asking! I've been embarrassed to admit I don't know.
@KUinCBUS--I'm glad they were able to get your H in and out!
@JamieK1882--if you're worried, I'd call and see what the doctor says. It's what they're there for.
I am losing a ton of mucous plug (don't worry, no pictures!) and having "real" contractions. Hang in there until after Halloween, Artoo--big sister wants to trick or treat with mommy.
I was up until almost 5 AM last night. One of my closest friends, her sister has been having severe pain and just in general feeling crappy for several months now. She was told early on that it was probably lupus and went into total denial mode. All she would do was get chiropractic adjustments.
She ended up in the ER last night because the pain was unbearable and they did a CT scan. She's been admitted to the hospital for what is likely ovarian cancer and has an 18 cm (7 inches) long mass going from one of her ovaries up into her back. My friend called me and I stayed on the phone with her through most of the night; she'd stayed at home with her sister's kids.
The only good thing that has come out of this is that the hospital put the sister on Zanex and her "magical unicorn" thinking of being able to handle the cancer with some pill that supposedly makes you vomit up all the cancer (I shit you not, that is the description she gave of it to my friend) instead of going through with surgery and chemo has gone away. She's also in the middle of nasty divorce and has twin 3-year-old girls to take care of every other week; we've been worried about her weird/magical thinking for months and from how she's been since getting the Zanex I think she's finally realizing that she has depression issues.
Sorry for the novella, I just needed an outlet after a long night. If anyone has prayers to send, Loris (the sister) has had a really rough year and could use all the good intentions she can get right now.
@WildFlower810 I drove myself crazy looking for a dresser that doubles as a changing table as well. I settled on the Hermes dresser by ikea. Drawers are really deep and it has plenty of room on top for changing pad plus a lamp and basket for diapers and supplies. I like it better than my dresser! Im attaching a pic of mine so you can see it out together with the changing pad and supplies on top
@KUinCBUS - Glad that your H is ok . . . hopefully he feels better soon!
@Lilwatz - Love the nursery! Hope your LO starts putting on weight soon!
@smboswell1 - I feel you. I'm worried I won't know the difference. I get BH contractions pretty often but it's just a tightening and not painful. MFM told me if I think I'm in labor to go the hospital right away so they can switch my blood thinner meds and get the dosage straight before delivery. But I'm scared I won't know! And then I don't want to go running to L&D every time I get a cramp. Sigh . . . water breaking would be a definite sign and save me all the is it/is it not thoughts, if it were to happen before they decide to induce.
@WildFlower810 I had the same reaction when I went through my list. I ended up checking out the local maternity/baby consignment shop to get what I could, and then prioritized the rest.
I added up the registry things I really need before the baby is born and got a gift card on CardPool (6 or 7% discount for BRU) for that amount. Then I made different wish lists on amazon for other things based on when I will need them (e.g., order once baby is born, order at 2 months, etc.). Some things, like a high chair, we really won't need for a number of months so postponing costs is pretty feasible.
I really hope my water breaks because honestly, I don't think I will know when I am in labor! When I have contractions, they don't hurt. I get really bad pains/cramps, but they don't make my uterus tight. Lord help me.
Same worry here... was trying to time contractions last night but couldn't decide: do I only count the painful & uncomfortable ones, or do I count the tightening-only ones too? BY this point, I literally have trained myself to not feel these anymore, I don't notice til LO starts squirming around after they release, and i really wonder...
I hope I don't go in to labor today. (38w, but you never know!) There's a gaping hole for our back-door right now. DH started putting in our new back door, but is currently taking a break to watch a football game.
Hopefully tomorrow we'll get the front door and side doors put it. So hopefully no labor then either!
So, I'm off my antidepressants til Noob comes, and this feels like the first trimester all over again. I even had dreams all nigjt about throwing horrible tantrums at hubby and mother, in general behaving only the way a bipolar person off their meds will do. i feel the depression creeping in a little every day... and I've got a week and a half of this unless baby decides to come sooner... Then I find myself crying today because why wont he come out, even though I'm only 37+4 (and after that thread yesterday, I feel shitty for wanting him to come early), but I'm 100% effaced and doc said any time now and my contractions slowed and stopped yesterday for the first time in a month so I feel like we're making backward progress... And how crappy is it that I'm just about equally looking forward to resuming antidepressants and meeting my son for the first time? 11+ more days til I can start meds & start feeling like a human again, and it just feels like a lifetime... Anyways, I'm sorry for rambling, I guess I had a lot more to throw out there than I thought, thanks girls for always being there to listen.
@hidingangel82 - hang in there and use your coping tools when you need to. Take a shower, go for a walk, call a friend, paint your nails, read a book , etc . That's what I've been doing when the depression and anxiety creep in. This morning I almost lost it on DH because we were trying to unpack and organize the baby laundry and he kept half assing everything. I can't tell if he's really being an ass today or if I'm hormonal. I'm going to my mom's in an hour so hopefully I don't kill him by then.
@hidingangel82 I'm sorry you're feeling whacked. You are still a good, strong person who can keep her life together even without meds for a few weeks.
I'm having a down day too. Been in bed and trying not to cry at everything. Might go for a walk to distract myself, but I have to write a brief. I'm generally pissed that I have to do a ton of brain work before baby, I'm not up to it mentally and I just want to relax. Like if I could go read a magazine in the sun, that would be the best.
I miss my cat. (we sent him to camp at my inlaws for the next few weeks). Could really use his company today.
I've also been having those mild period cramps we all seem to speak of and don't know what to make of them. I did read on some .co.uk health site that the more work your uterus does now, the shorter labor you will have. Take that with a gram of salt (see what I did there)

My water actually broke in the bathtub. it felt like a "pop" and I could definitely tell what happened.
Re: Saturday Randoms
@KUinCBUS oh no, I hope your DH is okay and it's nothing serious.
@terberell happy baby shower day!
@Carebella I hope you get back to sleep.
