Since you don't know when you ovulate I would start on CD 10.

I agree with the previous poster. If you are not aware of your cycle, CD10 is safe. However, if you have shorter cycles (<28 days), you might start a few days earlier. You can buy the OPKs in bulk and/or at dollar stores, so it shouldn't bee too cost-prohibitive.
I start once my period ends. My dr told me that now that my cycle has changed I am ovulating later but to start the opk as soon as the period ends to be safe.
