Success after IF

Ugh... Weaning

Sorry I just need to whine a little. This week I started weaning from the pump at work because DD2 will be 1 in just a few weeks. I hate weaning. Last time I had some pretty bad PPanxiety and obsessive thoughts. I'm trying to be really conscious of it and work out and breathe, but ugh, I still feel yucky.

And I feel like it doesn't help being IF. I always felt that even though I couldn't get pg on my own, at least I was really good at nursing. I hate this hormone trip. And I'm dreading getting AF back.

To clarify I'm only weaning from the pump right now, but I hope to keep nursing nights and mornings for at least a couple more months, but it's still hard.
IVF, acupuncture, meditation and a miracle.

Is there a pressing reason you are weaning? I know you will have to wean eventually, but if things are good, can you just keep going?

I am really tired of washing pump parts and bottle parts and I guess it's just kind of expected that you quit pumping at 12 months. DD2 is not really interested in the bottle anymore although she still likes nursing.

  • Huge hugs. We are closing in on 2yrs and weaning is eminent because of TTC #2. High five to you for making it this long, especially with all the pumping. Maybe just focus on enjoying the together nursing time? Pumping sucks :)

I agree with mrs.amydylan.  Pumping sucks!  I know the hormone trip is super hard.  But try to focus on how awesome it'll be to not have to pump, or wash bottles and parts, and all that.  That part is awful.  The good part is the nursing and the snuggling.
And just because you quit pumping doesn't make you any less awesome at nursing!  You are still an awesome BFer.  You made it a full year pumping!! Go you.  And you're still giving your LO breast milk, that's amazing!  You rock.
