Pregnant after a Loss

** UPDATE IN OP** PGaL moment, reassurance please

edited October 2014 in Pregnant after a Loss

DH and I dtd last night. Immediately after we saw some pink bleeding. For the rest of the night there wasn't really any more bleeding, maybe some tiny bit of faint pink if I really looked at the toilet paper. This morning I went to work (taught in the morning, folded laundry in the afternoon). By mid afternoon there was more spotting, still not a lot, but enough to freak me out. Mostly again it's only when I wipe, but it is more red than yesterday. I have some minor cramping and lower back pain, but that has been happening the past couple weeks. Plus folding coveralls and linen for 2.5 hours tends to make my back hurt from time to time.

Is this all just from dtd? I would assume yes, otherwise that's quite the coincidence, but I am still worried. Could it be that the bleeding increased during the day because I was more active? Should I call my doctor in the morning?

I am 5.5-6 weeks.

** UPDATE**
My bleeding continued to get worse so I went to see my doctor on Tuesday for a blood draw. I am supposed to go in tomorrow for a second draw to see if my levels are rising. Well last night the bleeding got worse and I started having bad cramps. I decided to go to the hospital today (my doctor's was closed and they don't do ultrasounds there anyhow). My betas are at 1394 but there was no sack, just a cyst of 1.2 cm. So they say I am pregnant, but not as far along as I thought, and right now they cannot say if it is viable or not.

I am still going to go to my doctor tomorrow for the other blood draw, and so I can get my results from Tuesday to compare them with today's. I am not very optimistic at all, with how heavy I am bleeding and the dates being off, it does not look good.

My worry is, there is something wrong with me. This will be my second miscarriage since June. When I had my DD in December 2012 I had a placenta abruption so I had to be induced early. I am worried I may have a clotting disorder or something. Does anyone know if this is something that would be likely? I feel like it all must be connected.

  • I'm sorry you are having spotting. What a PgAL mind fluck! I know lots of ladies have had spotting early on after Dtd. Your cervix is sensitive right now. I am of the opinion that it never hurts to call your ob of you have a question or a concern. FX the spottig stops and your ob can give you some reassurance.

    All PgAL and PAL welcome.

  • Sorry you are facing this, its never easy to see spotting. As PPs have said, most likely it is irritation to the cervix. If the spotting continues, give your OB a call- it'll give you more peace of mind.

  • Agree with the others--DTD = frequent spotting, but definitely the call if it continues, or if you just want the reassurance. Sending super sticky thoughts to your LO!
