1) Deleting Comments

-Moderators have the right to delete comments that violate our community rules

-They may only delete comments on their own board, unless asked to help elsewhere by BM (or the assigned board mod)

-Posts that should be deleted:

--Spam- Business or personal promotions posted on a message thread

--Harassment-Attacking another member. If the answer is YES to any of these questions:

--Was it a specific name call?

--Is this post malicious and NOT helpful in any way?

--Was this post created with the main purpose of stirring up other users?

--Online Vandalism-Posts to up a member’s post count

--Personal Information-This includes name, IP address, telephone number, address, email address, work information, etc. of another user or individual

--Impersonating other members/TB employees

-Posts that
will not be deleted
--
Members who are respectfully disagreeing with each other

--Comments made that members don’t necessarily like

2) Flagging
        -
Members have the ability to anonymously report posts to moderators
-Mods and admin will review and take appropriate actions
        -
This is NOT a dislike button (and flagging numerous posts that DO not break community rules is grounds for a warning)

-What should members flag?
        --
Spam
--Harassment-if you feel a user is harassing a member to an extreme level
        --Online Vandalism
        --Sharing another user’s personal information
        --Impersonation of Other Members/TB Employees
        --
Obvious violations of the Community Rules  https://www.thebump.com/terms.html

3) Closing and Deleting Threads
        -Threads
will not be deleted

Only exceptions
         --Spam
--When a member deletes their account--all threads/comments can be deleted with it
         --Threads
will not be closed without going through the process laid out  below
--The only exception to this are zombie threads more than a year old
--As an FYI: Threads that are moved are not closed (redirect links are left in order to prevent too much confusion)

4) How Threads Can Be Closed
-ANY
mod may issue a warning to a thread if it is starting to get obviously out of hand. Mod will briefly explain some of the violations taking place--but will not call out specific members on the thread (they will be PMed).
-Mod will flag comments violating TOS (if it hasn't already been done) and contact the mod of that board (if necessary) or BM
-BM or mod will review thread and delete reported comments that violate TOU--at that point, if there are 5 or more violations
after warning was given to the thread the thread will be closed
-Please, respect the mod that issues the warning on the thread (whether they are the mod for that board or not). This is not a threat; it is a courtesy so the thread will not escalate further which can result in the thread being closed, issuing warnings to members and, in certain extreme cases, members being banned.

5) Issuing Warnings
--Warnings are given for TOU violations. You will receive warnings in your inbox, with a title of "You've been warned".

--Under the moderation tab you will see the PM that was sent to you for a warning.  You can view this by checking your profile and clicking on the moderation tab underneath your avatar. Other members can not see your moderation. Only you, mods, and admin can see what is under your moderation.

--There are 3 warnings. On the third warning you will get banned.

--Each warning lasts 6 months. After 6 months from one warning that warning will drop off.

--Warnings can be reversed, if it is determined that a warning was not necessary.

--In extreme situations Admin/Mods reserve the right to ban without the total of 3 warnings.

6) What if I disagree with a warning from a moderator?

There are discussions behind the scenes between moderators, and it’s in regards to specific situations. Actions are taken after it’s agreed upon by a number of moderators. If there are situations where you feel that a mod is not handling it properly, please PM BumpMay and make her aware of the situation so that she can look into it. By directly going to BM, it will be resolved faster than making your case across threads on the community.

Mods are selected because we believe they can handle the responsibility and authority that comes with the position. XO trusts the people we select, and in most instances, will agree with the decisions that they make (within reason and with proper background information). We understand that there are situations when this isn’t the case, and that’s why we are asking you to come to BM directly if you have a problem.

It is against community rules to discuss private messages with another member, a moderator, or an admin on the community boards. These comments will be swiftly deleted, and a warning will be issued to the offending member.
