Success after IF

Back to the RE at 40

Musings and venting below- feel free to skip if you aren't inclined. Totally understandable.

I've been poked and prodded. Cd2 labs and clomid challenge test results are in.

My fsh at cd2 and at cd10 after taking the dreaded clomid isn't too bad- 9.6 and 4 respectively. But my AMH came back at 0.5. Ouch. It was well over 1 3 years ago.

Since I passed the clomid challenge, I should have coverage for IVF via insurance. Amazing since I was OOP for DS.

Just wondering how well IVF is going to go with my age and stats. We will start with my frosties from when I was 37...but my mind keeps going to how things might look if those don't work and I contemplate fresh cycle.

And to make matters worse, I can't move forward with any of this till I find a darn job. I Relocated with my husband across the country. This was great for IF benefits but not for our budget :( I feel like an old ticking time bomb,

IVF #1 ET 1 d3 embryo 10/30/11 BFP

FET #2 1 d6 embryo didn't survive thaw, transferred last d6. CP :(

Don't jump ahead too far because then you are just worrying about things you may never need to worry about.  If your plan is to start with a FET then just focus on that.  How many frozen embryos do you have?

Additionally, I think doing an IVF at 40 could turn out really well considering your FSH isn't really even considered high at this point.  Having a low AMH is completely normal by age 40.  Mine was lower than yours and I had a baby at 41.  Do you know your antral follicle count.  I believe that is a factor for IVF as well.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

AL!!!!  I'm so happy to see you.  How is D?  Where did you move to?

I'm sorry you are feeling frustrated.  IF and treatments and tests and all that is just so painful.  I agree with itsme.  Just focus on your FET first, and don't worry about anything else until you need to.  That is awesome you have coverage this time around.

GL with finding a job.  I know that's a huge stressor.  Sending lots of positive vibes your way.

Thanks all for the well wishes and job hunting vibes. I have lurked around awhile, but haven't had much time to post lately. Now that I am moved and have no life, here I am :)

I really don't like looking for a job. I only was at my last job 7 months before I had to leave it to move, so I am a little bit traumatized by my last search, too.

I'm now in the Boston-area, so if I am going to find a job in the biotech/research sector, this is the place to do it.

As for my my FET-- I have 3 frozen embryos that need to be shipped from Seattle, which is suboptimal, but my insurance doesn't work in Seattle. They don't have the best grades-- I think one is a hatching day 5 BB and the other 2 are day 6 BC, one of which is hatching. All I really need is for one of these to work, then I don't need to stress about a fresh cycle.

I did not get a chance yet to do an antral count, unfortunately. My initial appointment just happened to be my CD2, so I got all my blood tests done, but there was not time for an ultrasound. I have a follow-up appointment in a couple of weeks, so I guess I will get the whole picture then.

Don't stress about the grades.  Those grades are both better or equal to the grade of my one embryo which I am now pregnant with.
