Im in need of baby handcuffs or suggestions!! My daughter is 3 weeks old and one of the biggest issues we have is that I can't get her hands out of the way to get her to latch on correctly. It becomes very frustrating for me and her. Any tricks of the trade would be greatly appreciated!
My LO does the same thing every time. I take a blanket and use it to hold her arms down until we get the latch established, then I remove it so she can freely move her hands. It's kind if awkward at times, but it works. She's gotten where when I put that blanket over her, she instantly calms down cause she knows she's getting ready to get fed.
I like PPs advice. When DH was home I would have him nearby to clamp the hands down when needed. I remember this all too well--eventually they'll figure out to get their hands out. Hang in there, it'll get better!
TTC since April 2011. DH Dx MFI in February 2012. BFP #1: 7.16.12. MMC dx: 8.22.12, D&C 8.28.12, TTC Again November 2012. DH Varicocele repair November 2012; Repeat SA showed "dramatic" improvement February 2013 (awesome!)
BFP #2: 3.26.13, EDC: 12.7.13. Anya born December 9th, 2013!
My son does this too. I have found that if I take the arm closest to me and tuck it under my arm, it solves half the problem, then I hold his other hand.
