For those of you that know, I work for pretty much a complete jerk. I'm telling you, it's sheer misery. For 3 years I've just wanted to be home with my son & I have been so miserable because I've been away from him. Well, I've been on unpaid maternity leave for the past 3 months. DH & I have agreed that sometimes money just isn't worth the unhappiness. I've been a completely different person. Our whole family has been better because I've been home & less stressed. Don't get me wrong, working for my kids is WAY harder than working for him. But, because being a SAHM is right for our family, our family has been so much better for it.
So today I'm going to my office to turn in my one week notice. My HR dept. said no notice is fine but I figure he might can SORT OF behave himself for one more week. I've heard through the office grape vine that he's been saying "Skeemer's going to do XYZ when she gets back!" & all sorts of other madness. So ye-ah...in the words of @jensavicci , "Skeemer isn't doing ANYTHING when she gets back!". Lol.
Y'all say a prayer & send a good vibe. I absolutely can't wait to see his face when I tell him. It's going to be glorious & I will probably have the biggest smile ever on my face. I've worked for him for 13 years. It's time to let him blame someone else for everything that goes wrong & lie about another employee. I'll update here with news of how it went.
So, you'll all score a plethora of crazy Bump points if you post your most outrageous ideas on how I should quit my job. It's a fantasy of mine to go out in a blaze of glory like a music video with dry ice, a fan & Toby Keith's "How do you like me now?" blasting.

I want to say something incredibly clever & witty without being a total punk. But I'm pretty sure I'm just going to say something like how important family is to me & how much I want to be a full time mama. The XYZ business has been very good to me but it's time for me to be where my heart is. He'll probably try to save face & tell me that he has had a feeling all along that I would be quitting.
If he gets sassy with me I'll nicely tell him it's wonderful timing for him since he has "Alice" (the precious human version of Grumpy Cat that has been filling in for me) & that they'll be an awesome team. In all honesty, he has no sense & she is all "oh no he dit'nt!" type attitude. They both deserve each other.
I leave in 40 minutes. I'll report back as asap as possible.
And just because...
.
It went GREAT. I went in the office & sat down with him & the other supervisor. I just said, "You know guys, I'm ready to stay at home & be a mama to my babies full time." My supervisor said, "I knew you were planning on doing that." I darted my eyes at the other supervisor (who knows MY supervisor is full of crap) to say -
Then he said (brace yourselves), "Well I'm really happy for you. I guess tomorrow it will hit me physically & emotionally & I'll be grieving." I guess he's confused me quitting my job with a terminal illness.
I'll be going back to work Oct 6 for one week & then hauling butt. Thanks for all your support, loves & interwebs hugs.
Today seriously is a day I've been waiting for for a very very long time.
I had a co-worker take an iPhone video of me twirling in my office to "How do you like me now?". It's the closest I could get to my music video quitting fantasy.
On a side note where is this video you speak of?

That makes me so sad for your mom & it makes me SO HAPPY I am able to quit. Thanks for telling me that story. It really helped affirm that today was the right thing.

Update -
My co-worker called me & told me that my supervisor has already unofficially interviewed a woman "Lucy" to take my place today. Man...that happened fast. 8-| He must have already had his eye on Lucy thinking that me or the Human Grumpy Cat filling in for me might quit. Anyway, supervisor is telling my co-workers that Human Grumpy Cat can do my job in just 3 hours a day. Funny thing that 3 years ago he wouldn't let me go to part time because he claimed I had to be at that desk 40 hours a week. Also, when I was in my office getting some pictures off the wall I found a big stack of paperwork that wasn't scanned & the it dated back to June 11th which is just about before I went on leave. So, while she CAN do my job...she's not. And apparently she has him snowed into thinking she can. She's looking good on the surface but underneath it's bound to be rough.
This other lady, Lucy, God bless her. I'm sure she's a nice gal but dang...I hate it for her. He'll be nice to her for a while then when the new wears off he'll be back to his same old crap with someone new. Another supervisor told me that my supervisor is planning to hire Lucy & make her an office manager which would officially put her in charge of the Human Grumpy Cat. Meanwhile, Human Grumpy Cat has officially begged my boss for my job. So much for the government & fair hiring policies right?
I'm sitting back in my recliner cracking up. So are the days of our lives.
