Re: Friday OMG

  • @Chickypoo2468‌ you can find those pouches for food that are reuseable and fill able. Make your own stuff and put in them, you have total control of what they set and the convince of the pouch.

I don't understand why restaurants' kids menus are always such crap to!?!  Why can't they just offer the same meals as the adults just in smaller portions?  Do kids always have to eat chicken nuggets, hot dogs, mac n cheese, and pizza??

I agree. I still remember how shocked the waitress was when ds1 at around 6-7 asked if he could have a salad instead of french fries with his meal.....that was his own doing too since he just wasn't in the mood for french fries. Has anyone tried ordering a meal off the senior menu for their kids? Just wondering if that was an option.

  • I have decided to started telling people (random strangers when we are out) DS is 8 or 9 months old when they ask. They always tell me how tiny he is, and then ask why he isn't walking or talking yet. A waitress at a restaurant went as far as to tell me he was slow and a late bloomer. I am not ashamed or worried about my child, but I just don't want to hear, and have him hear, now that he is starting to comprehend, random people calling him slow and asking what is wrong with him.

Seriously. And why in the world would you offer a kids meal and then only offer soda or tea to drink?
    -----

This is why we never order her anything off the kids menu. We just share our meals and ask for an extra plate for her.

I can't tell you how mad I was when R first asked for a French fry when we had never given her one. Thanks, MIL, for that one. Why can't you just order grilled nuggets and a fruit cup? It's right there on the menu!

Yep, I don't have any objections to not telling people my child's real age (or name for that matter) They don't have a legitimate right to know so therefore, I don't feel it's lying. Sometimes, if I can get away with it, I ignore the question and never provide an answer.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with it, Jane.  We had a really rough start, too, and although I never came to love it as the puppies and rainbows thing it is sometimes depicted as, BFing became much easier and less time consuming.  Especially once we ditched the nipple shield and his mouth grew larger.  Maybe around 10-12 weeks I noticed it wasn't so bad?
  • Going with the junk food thing, I had a donut with coffee while DS was finishing up lunch. He wanted some donut, I gave him a little piece. He protested because it didn't have any icing on it.

I gave my kid a munchkin from DD today and she licked all the glazing off before eating the donut.

  • Guys, I'm feeling really awful about raising those baby goats just to tear them away from their mamas and sell them to someone who is more than likely going to eat them.
    :((

I definitely would not be able to do it :(

I don't know why it didn't occur to me that they would miss them. Like seriously. No idea.

:( Reading this just broke my heart.

  • I went back to the LC today, and she helped me get L latching better. This afternoon I nursed him without feeling the need to curl up and die for the first time in a week. (She also gave me a protocol for thrush, but we won't be able to start till Monday when the compounding pharmacy opens.) I'm so relieved!

This makes me so happy to hear!!

  • We've basically been living in hotels or in other people's guest rooms for over a month now. I don't feel bad about giving G1 organic fruit/veggie pouches because at least it's got some nutrients. Between travel days and the lack of kitchen availability, our options for veggies for him have been slim. He also gets "special juice" pretty regularly which is a naked or odwalla fruit/veggie juice. I'll be SO glad when we're in a house and this whole kitchenette phase is over and we can go back to eating 95% of our meals at home.

  • @Chickypoo2468‌ once the babies are old enough to sell the momma's don't have much to do with them. With goats they are generally already pregnant. So if it makes you fell better it's not stressful for them at all. If anything it's takes stress away, sometimes the baby's want to nurse a pregnant momma and that can stress her out. Your actually helping them out.

D said the morning he went in to get them in the trailer the mamas and babies were all sleeping in pairs. And one mama flipped out a bit... Maybe they're fine now, I'll have to ask him. We are looking to get a buck soon, but we can't have him with the babies bc we were told he will try and breed with them so how do they get pregnant with the babies still there?
you have to separate at some point.  and watch out-bucks smell disgusting during breeding season.  musty and pungent. lol
