Hi again! I dropped off the board for a while after my twins were born early, it's exciting to come back and see all of the baby pics and stories
My twins Nathan and Aria were born at 30 weeks and 5 days on 9/5... Nathan was 3lbs 12oz, 16in and Aria was 3lbs 14oz (false birth weight-she had a lot of fluid) and 16.5in.
They both spent a lot of time in the NICU in Boston: 58 days for Aria and 62 for Nathan. My husband and I drove an hour each way everyday to be with them which was pretty rough having them so far away... They got amazing care there though Their birth was one of the most wonderful and frightening/difficult experiences I've ever had to go through- I could only hold them once a day for the first month and putting them down and having to go home was so difficult. I'm so thankful that everything turned out okay and that I have 2 beautiful, heathy babies home with me
They both were on CPAP when they were born for Bradycardia Apnea, Aria went off of it first, Nathan needed more help, he was on and off a few times and then went to a high-flow (tube under the nose that pushed a small amount of room air) and then a low flow. They both had feeding tubes up until a few weeks ago - was so exciting when they got those taken out Their favorite past-time was yanking the tube out mid feed >_o Aria struggled a lot with feeding in the beginning, she was spitting up a lot and wasn't gaining weight so they had to put her on 24 hour feeds for quite a while. She still spits up a lot now...They both reflux a lot actually (>_<) They went through a lot of phototherapy in the beginning as well. Outside of all of that it was a lot of growing and working on coordinating the whole eating/breathing thing.
They've been home for about 2 weeks now and are awesome at tag teaming me during feedings
Nathan was 9lbs 3oz and 21.5in on Friday, and Aria was 7lbs 12oz and 20in
