Has anyone already made purchases? People keep asking me what to get him and I always say no gifts but for some reason dh's family gets really offended by that...so I need some ideas because apparently they can't come up with their own.
Eta that sounded bitchy and I totally didn't mean it like that. I am super grateful that they want to give him things but it's awkward for me to suggest things when they ask. I would prefer if they insist on giving gifts for them to choose things they think he would enjoy. But they keep calling and asking if I have ideas.
My BIL is making Sophia a custom Cozy Coupe (I just have to order it and send it to him). Other than that, I want to get her some Freshly Picked moccs, and a bunch of other random crap that'll take up room in her play room.
I'm also big on "experiences" as gifts rather than material items. I'm sure she won't appreciate those things until she's older. I kind of want to get her a monthly pass to our local Gymboree for the winter.
We will get a couple of items.. I really want to get the Haba swing. It holds up to 66 pounds and it can go inside door frames (great for our winters which last forever)
We've started buying for B's birthday and Christmas. So far we have purchased a radio flyer wagon with all the fixin's, a cozy coupe, tons of books, and a couple of outfits. I have a lot more on my list for him and I know he is going to get tons of stuff from friends and family. Just trying to decide where to draw the line on stuff.... If you can't tell we do birthday's and Christmases big at our house.
@CaiShov The seller is YarnButtonBowtique. She is making a custom board with a car theme and she'll put his name on it. Other than that, I don't know specifics. I just told her what he likes, his name, and how much I wanted to pay.
@katie.725 Yeah, I thought about that. These will obviously require very close supervision and I'll have to inspect everything frequently to make sure nothing is starting to get loose.
@mrscatfarmer13 I actually just came across that on Etsy because someone was selling that. In other words, I'm winging it. Seems easy enough, but you could order it.
The thing was 30 bucks, I couldn't pass it up! I swear that will be the only obnoxious gift. I keep buying her birthday gifts and showing them to her though so I better knock that off.
So I've decided Matthew also "needs" a rody and got DH to agree they are pretty sweet. Now getting him to agree that we "need" the rody max for adults!
@shanbp I've seen the Lexus in action, it is pretty amazing, the one we saw even had the lights to illuminate the ground below the car lol.
I think we need a rody now too. And the anywhere chair. And I ordered my FP mocs. As usual, when we talk about baby stuff it costs me money.
At what age do we let them play with paint? Can that be a present? With what Hayley does with food in her hair, I'm thinking she could be the next Picasso.
We live within 10 miles of 4 grandparents, and DD is the only grandchild...so I won't be buying any toys. DH, DD, and I have birthdays in a 2 week span, so we're getting a zoo membership for the family.
@fitmama418 I just ordered DD the camo print Freshly Picked moccasins with the intent of giving them to her as a birthday gift. They are so adorable I doubt I'll be able to wait.
I'm obsessed with all things camo right now.
Just a suggestion, if you all don't have the Fisher Price laugh and learn Learning Home, you need it. That keeps them busy forever. It's the best thing we have.
They have this is in A's DC class and he loves it.
@klongoria11 We have an inflatable pool instead of a PNP or gates. It's roomy and we turn it into a ball pit sometimes. It's good for entertaining other kids also.
@justMaike I love that you have a pool in your living room. Are you at all concerned that when he is older he will see pictures of it and be like, hey lets do that again, but fill it with water!!
I admit that I have thought about filling up the pool and use it for my own entertainment. I mean..how cool would that be swimming in your own living room?! Eventually I'll just fill it up with those plastic balls as LO gets older and can climb out.
Re: Birthday gifts?
I didn't know stores sold rody. I thought you had to get then from the website. I would be sad too.
@caishov its a bouncy horse. DD got hers on her first birthday and still plays with it every day.
I'm making him some busy boxes/bags and I ordered him a sensory board from Etsy. Can't wait!

Mostly we are going to see what other people get him and then get him whatever he really needs.
I was also introduced to this today...

I am not crafty but even I am capable of these, I think.
@Mommyxtwo1113 and @leopardgurl831 I am using some ideas from here:

And this fishing game:

I guess I should start taking applications . I am CPR certified and have a minivan so I really could hah
