Congrats new mommies-to-be! I'm so excited to join the group as we venture into motherhood.
So I must ask how many of you, too, are suffering acne like puberty all over again? I was using proactiv to keep zits at bay pre-pregnancy. It worked well enough that I never thought twice. Since my initial doctor visit, my obgyn said I should stop using the treatment and so I did. Within a week my face has exploded. I'm talking every morning there are at least 6 new guys sprouting up in new places and red as all get out. I'm trying to stay positive since this is well worth it for a baby, but ugh, talk about a self-esteem downer.
If anyone has any tips for natural remedies or suggestions for treatment, I would love to hear it!
Welcome to pregnancy! Haha sorry. I feel like a teen again. It's even on my neck. I had it like this with DS but I believe it did get better as time went on. You can blame the hormones. I don't use anything either. I just use a Burt's bees face wash and hope for some change.
I'm having a really rough time with acne too My MIL is really into natural remedies and told me to use a honey and cinnamon mask everyday. I haven't tried it yet but apparently honey is a natural antibacterial and cinnamon is a natural anti inflammatory so I'm hoping it works
I'm in the same boat also. I'm using occasional benzoyl peroxide but no salicylic acid. I have a dermatologist appt scheduled for October. Counting down the days.
You may want to look into "oil cleansing method" sounds inane to add oil but, after my sister fought with acne for 10+ yrs this was the first & only thing that has worked & it is completely natural. Good luck all you beautiful ladies.
Thank you for all of the suggestions! I foresee some shopping trips happening this weekend. Best of luck to all of you as well - I just keep reminding myself that it's worth it in the long run!
I started using Neutrogena naturals wash and scrub and it seems to be helping! No medication in it, but it does have willow bark in which apparently salicylic acid is made from. My face isn't completely clear but is much better than it was!
I've used a variety of cleaners that work. My two favorites are Neutrogena Naturals and Dr.Bronner's. I use peppermint essential oil as a spot corrector and I bought a Clarasonic brush, which has done wonders for my skin. I'm going to try the honey and cinnamon mask this weekend:)
Dr. Brohners peppermint Castile soap, and menuca honey! I just leave it on al night, (and clean my pillow cases often!), and I see a difference in the bad ones after just one night.
A raw honey mask seems to help tone down inflammation. I've also used coconut oil in a similar way (just use a little, rub it in at night instead of moisturizer). I hate hormonal acne, it's such a bitch.
So just an update - I've been using Belli face wash and spot treatment for 5 days and so far it's helping! I definitely still have bumps and new guys showing up, but hardly any big red blotches and any old zits are drying up quickly. Now it makes your face super dry so moisturizer is a must. I hope all of you are having success, too, at somewhat controlling this bummer of a symptom.
Re: Acne Like I'm 13 Again
I even have acne on my chest/stomach, it's that bad

So far is better than cetophil but not as good a proactiv. It's perfectly safe- designed for pregnancy, so at least I can feel good about it.
For my face I just kept with my regular face wash 2x/day. I've heard witch hazel and coconut oil works.
