Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Think I overdid it.

I am only 5 days postpartum and just walked around the block pushing my 3 yr. old and newborn in a sit and stand stroller. I got home and feel super crampy. Didn't dawn on me at the time that it might be too much. I am sitting here waiting for Motrin to set in. I wasn't that out of shape before baby but I am thinking that the weight of the stroller, kids was too much. Anyone else trying to jump back into normal life too soon?

Re: Think I overdid it.

  • Yes! I think it is tough to take it easy when you have another LO at home.  When you get back home, you want to resume all normal activities and keep the typical routine with your toddler.  My discharge nurse totally lectured my DH and I that I need to take it easy no matter how good I felt for at least the first few weeks to avoid worsening cramps/complications.  Try to take it easy for a few more weeks so your body can heal!

Thanks, I really need to try to take this advice. I feel better today but was def. uncomfortable for a bit last night. Not worth it.

  • Please take it easy! I didn't and I seriously regret it now. Give your body time to heal! You deserve it, and too much too fast could actually counteract how fast you can get back to "normal" activity for your kids!

If anything, do baby steps. Go to the shortest corner, next day go to the longer corner, next day go a little further, etc. I think your toddler will probably be just as happy with some individual mommy play time as they would be with the harder activities though.

    Take it easy and congrats!
  • I felt pretty good 5 days out so we went grocery shopping, I immediately regretted it! I wore out too fast. Your body just did some amazing things, take it easy:)
