DS had only flipped a card once at school so far. He's currently getting an A+ in all his subjects. This is the first year for letter grades (3rd grade).
#1 Is he took the bus to school starting yesterday. He's not a fan of getting put on the bus, but likes it once it moves. First time on a school bus. New school.
#2 Direction following. Last night I told him if he wanted to take a bath he had to go stand by the bathtub to let me know. He paused for a few seconds and then ran to the tub.
#3 He's been extra loving to little sister. Lots of snuggling, kisses (well, putting his forehead to her head gently), checking up on her. I really had no idea what type of relationship they'd have, so seeing this tenderness warms my heart
My son sat down for circle time and clapped his hands and sang the songs today. He usually wanders around and won't socialize with the other kids, so this made me very happy to hear. Its the little things, right?
DD1 walked in from the front door to her classroom by herself today. First time ever! She's been progressing from walking in with me, to walking in with a classmate, and now by herself. We're less than a month in, I'm taking this as a good sign.
She's doing really well in her day-to-day classroom reports, too.
ETA: Of course then I checked today's report right after posting and she just got tagged for disrespect. I wonder what's going on.
DD1 started first grade yesterday. I guess the teacher gave them a list of things she wanted them to remember and do today as a little test. DD remembered them all! She also bought lunch in the cafeteria and tried two foods that she'd never had before.
We had Kinder open house last night and 2 weeks in, we found out both boys are doing well. X's teacher said so far she wouldn't have guessed he has delays. We did get one note home one day about him getting really upset about something at lunch and hard to calm down but other than that he really has been adjusting better than I had hoped so far, and his stamina's been impressive!
I said I was having a bad day. He told me he'd use his superpowers to make it a good day.
He's been asking at least one detailed why question a day. I've been hammering him with them, so it's nice to finally hear them back. The BCBA will be thrilled.
Sorry for all the AWs today, but another one: DH and I finally had "the talk" with X this evening, explaining his delays, why he's in therapies and why his brother/peers can do so many things he can't do, etc. It went really well. The brag part is that he even asked us, "Do you guys have any more questions? Do you want to have more conversation?" (Which made my jaw practically drop open since usually he resists attempts at conversation unless it's about animals, colors, etc. and he struggles with reciprocal exchanges.)
I know this is late but I hope it okay if I share. Love hearing all the brags! My 2.5 year son just started to give kisses. So far he only kisses me and some of his toys. After I picked him up from ABA we went together to pick up his sister from preschool. He hugged her, kissed her and then held his hand out for her to hold. Even at four she knew how big that moment was. I loved the look on her face, she was so happy. Then she said "mommy lets call daddy and tell him about this". My heart almost exploded!

From my understanding, students who misbehave to a large extent have to sign it. I guess the teacher is using it as a classroom behavior management tool. Also, from what I understand, kids who made right choices get to choose a treat from the "treasure chest."
Bubba2b, DSs handwriting is really good. He was in a private school last year and in my opinion, they were doing 1st grade stuff in kindergarten.
I totally agree Auntie. His Guidance Counselor said she wants to see how he does once he starts his medicine (he'll start on Monday). I get the feeling that she thinks he may not have any more extreme behavior issues once he's on the right medicine. She wasn't totally against a child study/504 but she wanted to wait to see how DS does after the medicine first.
I am still going to push for a child study/504 to take place before this grading period is over. From my limited knowledge about all of this, a child study/504 does sound like it is the best thing for DS. Assistance to set him up for success is critical. Thanks again!
