TTC After a Loss
Options

Intro

Me - DH and I met when we were both 27.  We were married in May '13 and are turning 31 this year. We have 2 fur babies, beagle mixes.

Details: I had have had 3 pregnancy losses since we decided to try for a baby.  The first two were natural miscarriages while the third has been more complicated. I was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage after a vitality ultrasound at 8 weeks and a beta test showed that the pregnancy was not viable.  I had a D&C the same week and samples were sent for chromosomal testing.  The results showed both a partial molar pregnancy as well as a balanced genetic translocation on a female sample. Both my DH and I were tested for the translocation and I also have the balanced translocation. My OB said that there was a possibility that I was carrying twins at the time and that it can't be ruled out, but it's more likely that the second sample came from me.  The treatment for the molar pregnancy is to monitor HCG levels for 6 months to make sure they remain normal.  We are on our last month now and my next cycle begins around the 15th and go time would be at the end of the month, if we decide we're ready to try again.  I'm very torn on this because due to the genetic translocation, our chances of having another miscarriage is higher than normal.  I'm really torn between wanting to have a baby and risking another loss.  I'm also unsure about how I'm going to make it through the next early pregnancy worrying that it will end without a baby.

Fun Stuff:  I enjoy spending time with my dogs and my hubby.  I'm an avid reader and I've also taken up wood burning (great for me, I can't draw but I'm great a tracing).  I also love hockey, summer, and I'm trying to love exercise again (heard it's good for you).

I'm glad to be part of the board and taking steps to make myself whole again.

I'm so sorry for your losses.  Welcome to the board- I hope you find comfort and support here.  I'm also (hopefully) nearing the end of being on the bench and have three losses in the last year.  Repeated pregnancy loss definitely takes a toll on your body, your spirit, and your emotions.  Although I don't have any molar pregnancy experiences, I can empathize with the mixed feelings about trying again.  If you ever want to chat, please feel free to PM me.

I'm so sorry for your losses. I agree with PP, the lingering fear is something I think we all battle with a little bit. But others have told me that you'll know when you're ready when the desire to try again outweighs the fear. Welcome to the board.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I had an appointment with my ob today and she scheduled the last round of tests to make sure nothing else is going on. I'm glad I I decided to post here. I was trying to avoid the subject all together all summer but it's really time to get my head back in the game. Thanks again and you'll be seeing more of me around.
