This is my third baby, but first c/s, so I'm in unfamiliar territory. At what point do I look at my pp bleeding as a signal of doing too much?
My pp bleeding has been super light and mostly brown for a couple of days. We went to the store yesterday and I had newbie in my carrier only to keep people from touching her. We only needed wipes and tp, so I didn't think it would be too much for me to do. But I had to use the ladies while there and ended up walking clear across the super store and back, while carrying DD2. It was farther than I've walked since the c/s 11 days before. I was hurting a bit by the time we got home, but nothing terrible, and I never saw an uptake in pp bleeding.
Today, I've been mostly back on my couch in recovery mode. My sides and incision are hurting more today, but it's also the first day I've gone entirely without pain meds. Though my pp bleeding hasn't picked up any more, today it's all bright red.
So give my your experiences. Is this what "too much activity" c/s bleeding is like? There's almost nothing on a pad, it's just when I clean up. (Sorry, it's graphic, I know). Or am I just a wimp?
I don't really have an answer. I had a CS with DD1 and I can't remember what the bleeding was like. This time I am 4 weeks post C section and have been having weird bleeding. Exactly like you described. At my 2 week pp check up my MW said it was all normal and to be expected to bleed more as I did more activity but it didn't necessarily mean I was overdoing it. She said just to take it easy and if the bleeding wasn't soaking through pads then I was fine. My bleeding had beeb really light again in the past week, but now in the past two days I am having bright red bleeding again and clots. I think that is weird for 4 weeks pp and I haven't been doing anything crazy strenuous. Just laundry and dishes, but I'm still not picking up my toddler or even my newborn while she's in the infant seat. So I don't know. It's weird.
Yup that's the signal that you overdid it. It doesn't sound extreme or anything so I wouldn't worry about it, but give it a few more days before you walk that much again.
