First IVF cycle- 7 week u/s: strong heartbeat, but small

At my 7 week u/s, there was a strong heart beat, but the embryo measured small, (6w1d). Has anyone else experienced this or know of someone who has? Hoping for the best at next u/s...

I was always told that anything up to a 1 week variance was normal. The machines aren't 100% accurate. Was the doc concerned? If not, I wouldn't be either. Good luck!!!

Thanks! My dr said they are more optimistic than cautious, at this point... My partner told me dr also said something like, '80% optimism' The wait until next Friday's u/s is gonna be hard.

They are so tiny at this point that a bad angle can make measurements way off! A strong heartbeat is a VERY good thing! I know it's hard, but try and stay positive FX for great measurements next week!

Agree with the others. There's a lot of error in these measurements. The last time I was in, the first measurement was about 4.3, then she re-measured at 5.9! Same day. If the tech never manages to get a better angle then it can seem like you're behind. Also, my understanding is that the growth will sometimes happen in spurts, so even if your LO was a bit behind, there's a good chance s/he would catch up. Just think about that strong heartbeat--it's an excellent sign!!
