Those seeing Dr. KK

After 3 implantation failures with DE ( 4 if you count my initial attempt before my success), I've decided to see this physician. She is very close to my home in chicago. I just submitted my initial paperwork and medical records. For those who have seen her, how does the process work from here? How long is a wait for the initial appointment, and what will happen once I do see her? Does anyone talk to you about the financial aspects? She is in network with my insurance, but who knows what is covered. Or is the process more like, she takes 22 tubes of blood and you sit and hope you don't receive a bill for $8,000? LOL! Any insights would be appreciated.

We considered it, but she wasn't covered by our insurance. There are several ladies on Infertility Veterans board who have been treated by her. I would suggest posting as a cross post.

Hey there - I just saw Dr. KK for my initial work-up last week. After our FET came back a BFN in April, we decided to see what this route had to offer for us. I downloaded the new patient packet from their website, filled it out, and mailed it along with the past year of our records to their office. Once they received our packet, I got an email to fill out a profile on their online portal. Then I got a call within 24-48 hours to schedule our initial visit and follow-up. The wait is long... I took the first available appointment and it was about 4 months of waiting. But it seems to have been worth it. During the first visit, they did an in depth ultrasound and lots of blood work. Thank you, RunCC. I do have insurance where Dr. KK was in network, but of course I have no idea if the specific tests she orders would be. Is there a financial person to speak to at the practice to see the appropriate cost of testing if insurance denies things?

Thank you, Lincoln. I am always lurking on the vets board and reading posts since given all my failures I seem to have a lot more in common with the ladies there. Even though I've been on the boards a long time (since 2011), I'm not sure if I would actually qualify to post there as I did have one success with DE. I want to be sensitive to the ladies there as I know how hard the process is. I've been looking for additional boards with ladies like me and haven't found any. I looked into secondary infertility, but it was hard because a lot of the ladies there are so optimistic. I know that sounds bad, but after so many failures on my end, it is hard to see. One recent post had something to do with, let's name our multiples, because you, know, were all so likely to conceive them after having IF treatments. Not the kind of stuff that is helpful to me!

I understand what you are saying, I missed the fact that you have a child. The other (and probably better option) is to page those who you see on IFV that have been to Dr. KK in this thread.

Those ladies are super helpful, but have been through a lot and are protective of each other.

I asked to speak to someone about how my insurance works with Dr. KK both at the doctor's office and through my insurance. I wasn't able to get any definitive answers, but was told that I should be good. I have Horizon BCBS of NJ... they accept Horizon BCBS and run it through a little differently because I'm out of state. So far, no surprise bills! 

I don't think this will be an issue for you (because I think you live in state), but I did find out that my insurance will not cover phone consultations.... which is annoying because if I go to the office then I just pay my copay. But then there's the flight, hotel, car rental... either way, I'm going OOP to see Dr. KK, but IMO it's totally worth it.
