I need to vent-just left my 38 week dr appt where I was told my dr is going to Malaysia on Monday so I will be seeing a different dr since she is gone for 16 days. She told me last visit she wouodnt be here for my 39 week appt but I assumed she was out of town for a couple of days or something, no big deal. I'm a lot frustrated right now that she didnt tell me this sooner since DH and I were contemplating switching to a midwife a few months ago and would have had I known she was leaving! WTF why would I see you for 38 weeks then let someone else deliver my kid!

Sorry you are stressing about this!! Several people have to have different doctors delivery their babies though. There are 7 doctors that rotate days in my practice. So unless you are induced or have a scheduled C/S, there is a chance of having a different doctor. In the end you won't care. When I had DS the doctor was only there for the last 10 minutes of pushing anyway. It was pretty much all nurse till the very end.

Well I guess the upside to potentially delivering late is that she might be back in time!

Thank you ladies for the support, I'm all for being flexible and am not nearly as worked up as I was earlier, just kind of a shock at first! Good thing I got a doula!

I would be upset by this too. Mostly because your doctor clearly knew she wasn't going to be around for your due date. But you never know what will happen. Maybe you will like the other doctor more. Or like PP said, maybe you'll be late and she will be back (not that I would wish that on you!). I was mad when I found out at 34 weeks that my doctor was going on vacation during my RCS window. I ended up loving the new doctor I scheduled with but then my water broke and I was stuck with the on-call doctor anyway. I met him for the first time in the operating room after I was already strapped to the table ready for my c-section. Anyway, glad you are feeling better about it and best of luck!

I honestly don't even know the doctors name that delivered Emma. I couldn't pick them out of a line up. Heck I couldn't tell you if they were male or female. Everything just happened so fast and they almost didn't make it in time. I was so focused on my SO (okay maybe the ice chips he was feeding me because I felt like I was melting in that room) that I'm not even sure how many people were in the room. I hope you like your new doctor. It's kinda messed up that your original one didn't tell you sooner but you can't change what has happened.
