    Is BLW just simply self feeding and not just from breast feeding? I could certainly benefit from tips on how to get Tate to not just sit back and open his mouth like a baby bird while I do all the work.

    ^^ same here. Zaiden will not feed himself. Any food I put on his tray, just gets smooshed and rubbed in or ends up on the floor. Lol

    Yup it's really just baby self feeding! It's pretty easy just plop some food on a high chair tray and see what happens. Fruit is a good place to start, think BIG pieces like a chunk of watermelon so the whole thing won't fit in his mouth, that will prevent (to a degree) the gagging. But the gagging and coughing is normal, don't let it freak you at. It means he's handling the situation, doesn't mean he's choking. Just stay away from round thing like cherry tomatoes, grapes, hot dogs, etc. - cut them in halves or quarters.
