I'm not familiar with the GMD cotton doubler. I will say I lOVE stuffing pockets with flats. I like both GMD and Nickis brand standard/OS for pocket stuffing. One of those pad folded holds about the same as the normal size BG MF plus the NB BG MF.
I think the only difference in the bleached/unbleached is the color. Some say the unbleached don't show stains as much. And I've heard one is softer than the other. But if it's a pocket insert it shouldn't matter.
TTC with PCOS since November 2009

I'm at that same point as you. Although I did an RLR strip and it really fluffed up my BG inserts (the AC ones, not so much). Trifold end AC bamboo inserts are my absolute favourite but they are so expensive.
So I'm really not any help here, just wanted to commiserate!
@CLLDLL - the only flats I found on nickis are sized - small and large. What size works best for pockets? And do you use the cotton or bamboo?
The size small will work for pretty much any pocket. The size large offer a bit more absorbency and fit better in a pocket on the largest rise. We use the cotton, and I gets good two hours out of a size small and 2.5-3 hours out of a size large on 22 month old G.
I loved my Thirsties hemp inserts. I, too, slowly replaced all of my MF with natural fibers with my son, and now my stash is 100% Elementals (well... and one Grovia AIO) with my daughter.

i looooove my elementals. my oldest ones were slightly used when i got them, and i used them in heavy full time rotation through 2.5 years with my son, and now for the past 2 months with my daughter. they are beat UP but they hold everything and they don't smell or leak. i can deal with them looking like they've been chewed up by an army of rats if they function as they should. no regrets spending the money on them! the quality is awesome.
(now this is accurate for the old style elementals with no exposed PUL. i hear the new style isn't as great, but i can't comment from experience. it may be worth looking into buying at least one used old style to compare to a new style.)
