Snap inserts for Softbums

Hi ladies! I read that the best bottom inserts will snap into the Softbums, but it will stick out a bit. Any ladies can give me further info on this or tell me if any other inserts will snap in the Softbums besides their own pods.

Softbums, Bestbottoms and most other cloth diapers (except Grovia) use size 20 snaps.  The Bestbottom inserts will snap in, but the snap is placed  much lower on the Bestbottoms that it really isn't a good fit in Softbums (the Softbums insert the snap is at the very back edge of the insert).  I've been thinking about getting some KAM snap pliers and snaps and making my own inserts since the Softbum Bamboo inserts are so expensive.

Picture of the difference in snap placement:

I did use my BB inserts with the SoftBums shells....pulling the shell up over/tucking the insert in was not a big deal since we were only talking about maybe 1/4-1/2 inch of insert. I suppose you could always make an adapter with the snaps on a piece of heavy material too.

I use BB & SB pods interchangeably with both BB covers & SB covers with no problems - I can also use Alva Bamboo Snap inserts too (they're the bamboo inserts for their color snap diapers).

@FifisMommy‌ is the alvababy one a little longer like the BB one when snapped into a SB shell?

They all work fine for me. I just always make sure BB/Alva inserts are ticked in at the top. Takes 2 seconds.

Oh! Imagine covers work with all these inserts too. I like them :)

I like that the Alva is OS but my BB's are a bit more absorbent. She can get through a nap with a BB insert no problem, while with the Alva 2-3 hours is pushing it. But Alvas are also a great price, so is say I like them both equally overall.

Oh and I'd say my BB inserts and SB pods are equally absorbent. I don't see a difference. I hear the hemp BB's are slightly more absorbent than the stay dry, but I haven't tried those yet. I probably will when we move into larges :)

Chelory Fold to Fit snap in perfectly. They're zorb and bamboo so really absorbent, however a bit more bulky than SBs because they're so long and you fold under. I still love them though.
