Hey ladies! I'm new to the group and also pregnancy, so I was just wondering how many of you have issues sleeping at night during your first trimester? I'm only 5 weeks so I don't understand the insomnia. I'm super exhausted too. Now on top of the insomnia, I have insane nausea. I have a huge thing of water right next to the bed that I have almost sucked dry, but nothing is helping. Suggestions please!
Hi and congrats! I think maybe the insomnia is your brain just going on and on. I feel like that sometimes. And ginger ale or any kind of ginger is supposed to help with nausea. With my previous pregnancies I added ginger ale to almost every thing. Hope that helps:-)

Me too! Last night I went to bed at 9 and slept until my husband left for work (and I had to take my annual pee break) at 6 am and never went back to sleep. Granted I did take about a 4 hour nap this afternoon.
I'm new here, and new to pregnancy too! I'm right at 5 weeks and for the past 3 nights I've been having trouble sleeping BECAUSE of nausea! I have mild nausea all day, but at night it kicks into high gear. I'm thinking about getting a few more pillows to prop myself up a bit and see if that helps!
I have been waking up at 4 and can't go back to sleep. Tonight I woke up starving and had to eat a bar but now I still can't sleep. It is normal. This is my 3rd pregnancy though and I have never had it like this. It's so annoying.
I have been sucking down ginger ale during the day like nobody's business. That alternated with lots of water is helping my nausea a lot... I hate this feeling that my stomach is always in my throat!
I am also having trouble sleeping but I try to keep a pile of books next to my bed... Laying here thinking, or thinking about not sleeping, only makes it worse!
Staying at mom and dad's this week and dad decided it was imperative to come in at 5am to get smtg out of the closet. He is not a quiet man. I was actually still asleep for once.
I am about 6 weeks pregnant with my first and I too have had a difficulty sleeping and mild nausea. I'm a teacher and praying it gets better before school starts in 2 weeks!
With my first I had trouble sleeping and trouble with restless legs. My OB said it was ok to take Benedryl as needed to help with sleep and it did make a difference. You might want to consider asking about that (don't take anything without asking your DR. first). I don't think regular sleeping pills are ok but they said the Benedryl on occasion was ok for me.
Me too. Horrible nausea and vomiting and just last night and the night before the sleep issues started. I'm so wired at night and have trouble falling asleep (iphone stimulation prob not helping hehe) and wake at 4 or 4.30.
What is helping me. Listen to your body. If something makes you feel sick or think about being sick don't eat it. Do whatever works in the moment. Sliced lemon in hot water, vit b6 and ginger tablets (blackmores brand) every 8 hours in addition to prego multiv. Dry crackers or cereal to snack on all the time - I leave a bowl on the bench all day.
I'm having similar issues... Waking up at 4am nauseous and it lasting until 11am. After that I still don't feel well but I can move around. I called my OB and the nurse told me to take 25mg of B6 3x a day. Anyone have success with this??
Hi I'm Elizabeth , also 5 weeks! I'm having the same problem I can't fall asleep and when I do I'm only asleep for a few hours , and I only get nauseated when I'm in a car of all things lol . Does anyone else feel like their hearts at beating faster at random times , I read it's normal but it's weird !!

I've either had a bitch of a time getting to sleep or being able to sleep past 4/5am.
Hope it gets better for you!

Still wide awake... Thanks for that!
