DH and I are talking about CCS testing for our DEgg cycle. At first, we were both very quick to dismiss it because we wanted to keep the cost down. Plus, we figured that an egg donor would be super fertile, so what's the point? But I'm back to thinking about it again. We are considering a donor who is a bit older than I'd prefer (all the rest of her stats look great though). It is making me think that if we proceed with her then we should go for the CCS testing. What are your thoughts?
As someone who had 2 back to back miscarriages with DE, it would be worth the money. I'll never know if it was abnormal embryos or if I really needed lovenox due to 2 copies of MTHFR. It would also have saved me from doing a double amnio with my girls bc I couldn't believe they could be normal. CCS was not an option with the guaranty program we did.

My opinion is probably biased but I would do the CCS testing. Our situation was a bit different than yours as we had MF issues as well but I truly believe that if we had done PGS testing for our first DE cycle we would have been spared a lot of heartache. Despite using a five time proven donor we ended up with a loss and then a BFN. We changed clinics, did CCS for our second cycle (new donor) and ended up with four normal embryos (details in siggy). Our RE told us that even with a young donor statistically a third of CCS tested embryos end up being abnormal. My feeling is it is 100% worth it.
I am so glad we did testing.... we had a great young donor... out of our 8 5 day blasts 2 had trisonomy issues. For us the cost was worth it!

Would do if we could, but we are tapped out for further funds for this. Our RE threw around a figure of about $5k for genetic testing on the embryos, and suggested (since insurance covers our transfers), it would be more cost effective to go without. Not sure I agree 100 percent, but without the funds it's a moot point.

Question for @ksgsmu and anyone else who did the testing... when they did the test do you know of there was anything about the way the embryos were growing that might have hinted at something? Ie, they weren't as good quality, etc? Or were they otherwise still high quality to the untested eye? Now that we're getting closer I'm starting to get very anxious about this part. Not that any of this will make an extra $5k suddenly appear in our bank account.
Our RE graded our blastocysts on a good/fair/poor scale for both the inner and outer cell mass prior to biopsy. All but one of our eight embryos were rated good/good with one graded good/fair. With my first DE cycle at the previous clinic (which resulted in an early loss) we were told that all four of our Day 5 embryos were “excellent”.
We started with 25 eggs, 21 fertilized... by Day 3 we had 18, by day 5 we had 12 left... my RE's lab will only freeze "excellent quality" to send to testing. We had 8 to send. We got a call from our embryologist every couple days telling us what was going on with our embies. It was so stresfull-in fact probably the most stressful part of the whole experience! We had to wait about a 10 days to get our results back from our tested embies... We had two with trisonomies which would have left to miscarriages. We were told the sexes of the remaining embryos ( optional if you want to know). We let our embryologist choose which two to transfer. I am now pregnant with boy twins.
