Mattress pad

How often do you wash it? Barring something happening that would require you to wash it sooner, like say your husband gets a nosebleed all over it (not that that has happened to me or anything).

  • Ok, I am feeling better. I suddenly just had this thought, like, what if everyone else washes the mattress pad every time and I am a weirdo?!?!

  • I'm in the "didn't know you were supposed to wash it" camp. i thought that is why you had sheets. I don't wash my mattress...wait, am I supposed to wash the mattress too?!? :-?
I wish you could wash a mattress b/c my H had a nosebleed all over that, too.

That's what I was gonna suggest. I've used it many times to get blood off shoes and scrubs!

Hydrogen Peroxide gets blood out. We have a pillow top mattress, so no pad, and I usually just clean it with baking soda and vacuum it once a year or so...

  • Guise. I feel like @carriet2018 would agree with me that a mattress pad is a necessity, even if you have a pillowtop. Memory foam, IDK, but it does also help prevent sweat/other fluids from getting on your mattress, for the most part.

  • Usually every time I wash the sheets. I don't currently gave a mattress pad, though. We had a nice waterproof one that wasn't plastic-y, but it got ruined last time I washed it (DH put it in the dryer on high heat and the inner lining melted). Haven't replaced it yet.
